Ignore the blue button - that will just install galaxy. Use the download option below that.

As far as I can tell they want to use Galaxy, but they want to use it offline. The thing is Galaxy does work offline once you have a game installed, but they're complaining it doesn't work offline before they've even installed the game. They're either a troll or just very dim.

notonyournelly: Hopefully.

No, not ignoring. Just fed up with the same repeated lies from the companies. The same lies every day.

Lord_Kane: Well you seemed to be ignoring what others were saying about offline installers, but then again, its kinda of a weird term to use...just use the offline installers. galaxy is such a mixed bag.
The guy has a point though. As far as I can find, there's no 'play offline' option in Galaxy, and there should be if it means you can't actually fire up your game when offline. Not everyone would know you need to drop into the install folder and fire it up with the .exe file instead. Or to DL the offline installers (that big blue button will fool a lot of people). If GOG wants to compete with the 900 lb gorilla, they need to at least have the same type of functionality.

Yeah, I was unclear if he'd signed into galaxy or not. If he had, it should work, I assume, even offline? If it doesn't then he has a point, as I noted above.

He does not have a point. There's no "offline" option because it's always in "play offline" mode. If you're not online, it says so, but you can still play your games and don't need to sign in or anything.

notonyournelly: I bet if I try to install offline there'll be lots of issues which'll cause me to give up.

Grargar: I bet you are wrong.
I've only had issues with a couple games, usually missing dependencies (like needing a special Nvidia Phyx driver). So i am betting he's wrong too.

notonyournelly: Hey GOG, I got a great idea: offline mode
Ta da!

Correct. There's no separate offline mode, it just works.

Actually, the new client forces us to login at least once before it allows us to use it, so it is a huge step back from the old client that allowed me to install it offline, launch it offline and import games I had copied from another computer while still being offline, the only drawback other than the obvious lack of any online features was that some games had their version number shown as "UNKNOWN VERSION" until I went online and run a verification check.

Thx, I carried out your first suggestion and it seems to work OK. Wish I'd waited til the Steam sale as the game is available there for the same price.

I'm glad you got it working. There's no "offline mode" because all the games are playable offline by default. We were all trying to tell you that in different ways, but I'm glad you listened to someone eventually.

Hello, I came to save you, what you said was understandable but the GOG community, well is the GOG community and is far to be friendly.

JAAHAS:
JAAHAS (who perfectly understood about what you was talking) are two GREAT members which is pretty rare on GOG.

Still I think that what you are looking for is "SETTING" "GOG CLIENT" "GENERAL" "KEEP ME LOGGED IN" and then you will be able to be OFFLINE (but not "OFFLOG") to enjoy it.

I think the problem is here "OFFLINE" and "OFFLOG" (I don't know if offlog is the right term but I'm sure you understand me). And JAAHAS is PERFECTLY right we have to be logged ONLINE first (If you signed out before) before to go OFFLINE (but still not offlog). And it's indeed an ENORMOUS step back from the previous client. Before we could be OFFLOG now we can no longer and it's quite frankly a step to make the GOG CLIENT become DRM FULL.

SO YES indeed then you can still make the savvy guy (ok it don't ask any technical skill but it will still be considered savvy for most of people, it's not about the savvy guys on this forum, it's not about me, it's just like this), and yes indeed it still currently DRM FREE. But the fact that we can NO LONGER "use" the CLIENT WITHOUT LOG it obviously a step towards DRM. And that we NEED the CLIENT for MULTI too (even if it might be more understandable).

Personnally I think each INDIE team should have is OWN store and that's it. It really easy today and we would all be free to go where we want MAIN HUB for those who like clients, LOCAL STORE for those who don't.
