Just recently made a trade that involved Redneck Rampage Collection and Kingpin: Life of Crime. Bought them as a gift, paid PayPal, no worries.

Just tried to purchase a second set for the trade but it wouldn't let me checkout:

This order can only be gifted as it contains Items you already own.

You can't gift Kingpin: Life of Crime right now, please wait 24 hours and try again. If you have other games in you cart, please remove Kingpin: Life of Crime from your order to proceed.

Why is this? I tried changing the recipient email and the payment method, nothing worked, it's purely on GOG's end. But why is it forbidden to buy the game as a gift more than once a day?

The sale end in five and a half hours! If I'd known about this I wouldnt have promised the second set!

You have to select the gift option below payment option

Enter email and maybe text (you can send it to yourself)

You will receive a code which somebody needs to redeem.

Yes, I'm well aware of that. I know how to buy a gift. That isn't the problem.

The issue is that GOG won't let me buy the same game again as a gift. Please read the part in bold again.

I believe GOG introduced restrictions on gifting a while ago to prevent people from buying a ton of gift keys for 80% off, and then selling them in places like G2A for twice what they paid for them once the sale is over.
I would shoot a question off to Support or PM a Blue, referencing this thread to show that you were trying to buy it while the sale was still going on. They might be able to process it manually at the sale price.

I think they have the waiting period for reseller reasons, but it can (and does, in your case) get in the way of other gifting purposes.

Sorry didn't read, I admit. Looks like they implemented this new, haven't seen it.

BUT do not remove, leave it in your cart and open a support ticket.

GOG might have introduced it against misuse (this measure).

Hit this myself a few times, couldn't find any policy pertaining to it.
Restriction on new accounts, but nothing for established accounts.
More than likely to stop selling cheap codes on....

Bollocks to slow typing...feck.
Makes the wallet feature even less appealing tbh.

you can buy every game only once as a gift during a 24 hour period.

thats one more of gogs shitty silent attempts to condemn trading, i noticed it during last summer sale. welcome to the thunderdome, gog becomes more anti-customer every day. i'm going to predict that they'll soon extend it to during whole sale instead of 24 hours.

I thought it was usually if you bought 5 copies of a game as gifts it would block you...
I think support / a blue can unblock you.. though possibly not on a Sunday evening...

Just for fun I tried to buy a game as a gift, which according to my orders I bought yesterday, it did redirect me to the paying options.

It might be game specific, or maybe a glitch?

Edit tried with a second game I gifted 13 hours ago, and did work as well.....

So I assume game specific. (or maybe country specific?)

Oh crap, I'm sorry I should have updated the thread.

We agreed on a substitute and the trade went ahead.

I'm so sorry, is it feasible for you to get a refund without any issue?

Doesn't really matter. It was the price of half a soda ;-)

If you'll just leave the code alone, I'll put it into a giveaway at some point.
