Not sure if anyone is experiencing the same thing but it's been the case for me for pretty much this entire year: GOG games are downloading at a snail's pace at 1MB/s and lower. At times, if I am lucky, the download speed goes up to 5MB/s. I've tried downloading a few 1GB games and it's taken hours (or pretty much an entire, 24 hr day) to complete downloading. This happens for both the GOG Galaxy client, as well as downloading from the website.

I am on a 1GBps connection, tested to upload and download speeds of at least 200MB/s so my connection's not an issue. There aren't any other solutions I can find online as to how to remedy this, and it seems like the issue is on GOG's side. Just wondering if anyone is also experiencing this problem and if there is a way for users to actually raise this to the GOG team because I've bought a ton of games, with no way to download them within a reasonable amount of time.

Adding a note here that I'm glad I didn't purchase a game liky Cyberpunk from GOG, and opted for Steam to make that purchase instead, otherwise I would have been stuck with a 10-day download or something.

For me it has been like 4mb per second since summer CDN issues were fixed but the speed is still slower than it used to be like it was 24mb per second on edge browser before the summer CDN issues.
Don't know when they will properly fix this but i ain't downloading dragon age origin ultimate edition until the speeds get fixed.

Maybe it had something to do with the floods we had but no other site is as this slow as gog with downloading their offline installers or games.
I do kinda worry it may off put customers on gog due to the slower download speeds than usual but i simply get smaller games rather than large ones usually.

GOG changed its provider (to Fastly). So i don't know if that has anything to do with it but the starting speed from 18mb per second quickly drops to 4 for some reason.
Anyway not everyone has slow speeds for some reason and it can be region specific.

Of course, you sitting in Singapore, me sitting in Germany - the DL servers we both use are probably not the same. Fun fact: Steam downloads are way slower than GOG downloads - for me at least.

I'm confused. How can it take 24 hours for 1GB games when you get 1MB/s? In that case it should take 1000 seconds which is a little less than 17 minutes.

Hey, OP. When was the last time you updated your router or replaced it? We're up to Wi-Fi6 over here.

There have been several threads about this issue throughout the second half of the year so OP is not alone.

OP probably means peaking at 1MB then dropping way lower.

Oh gosh, I'm so sorry to hear that. Steam has been working fine for me with with very good download speeds of 30MB/s at the minimum. It could be a VPN or firewall issue with Steam, have you tried it? I've tried those remedies for GOG but they didn't work though, thus my guess is that the issues are on GOG's side. Yes that's what happened. It basically runs at 1MB/s and then goes down to 0.2MB/s for most of the download, and at times, stopping entirely for hours. There will be bursts of 4MB/s but that lasts for like maybe a few minutes at best.

Good point. I've actually tried downloading GOG games via several different network setups over the last few months. This includes via a regular home WiFi 6 mesh network, a professional server grade network, as well as a home network connected to the latest Ultra Speed fiber broadband running on 10-XGS-PON technology with the wireless hardware to match.

Alright, so that eliminates the local/ISP end, thanks for responding. That means the problem is (as suggested by others), with GOG's cut rate CDN.

I only get maximum throughput if I use the uhhh... optional client to download offline installers.

I am downloading a game right now with 18MB/s speed. Not bragging, but it might be something to do with your set up/connection.

Makes me wonder about burning discs and mailing them off; But only for people who may already have the game. It would make the world, slightly less online-only...

Hmmm....Now it makes me tempted to start making my own discs for a wall collection of games. But with 800+ games in GoG alone, that's quite a feat. Plus if i did cover labels to print and slap on.

Welcome to my club, unfortunately ... and for me it is usually much lower, often around 204 KB/s.

This has only happened for me since GOG had their CDN issue and switched to Fastly, a few months back.

Most of the time for me since May 2017 with GOG, my download speed has been almost 5 MB/s. Though a couple of years back I had the same issue for a few months, until it magically came good again.

Just a b-grade service I am afraid.

If you get truly desperate, try Free Download Manager 5 with multiple download streams per file. You will also likely need to install the browser addon for FDM5.
