Hi. I just started using GOG a couple of weeks ago so I can get some DRM free games. I wanted to buy some DRM free games. However, it’s just difficult to do so.

I tried to use my credit card to add funds, and the payment was rejected. I found out that CD Projekt and GOG are based in Europe, even though this site has Canadian currency. Apple Pay also didn’t work either. I don’t want to have to contact my bank.

I researched different methods like paysafecard and skrill.

Paysafecard can easily be found at Canada post and some gas stations. I didn’t have much luck, because the gas stations that I checked don’t sell them, and Canada Posts are a bit busy. The only ways to get paysafecard online are through websites like TopMeUp and PCGAMESUPPLY (which I heard some bad things about). Those site require debit card, and photo ID. I’m not giving any of my personal information just to pay for games on some websites that I don’t know much about. I want to do it safely.

I also bought a vanilla MasterCard from a gas station. Unfortunately, that got rejected too, even if I put billing information.

Also, Skrill requires ID too.

I heard that you can also buy GOG keys from G2A, but I refuse to support that company as paying money to them rewards theft and they take money out of your wallet for inactivity.

I wish there was stuff like GOG wallet codes, but unfortunately, GOG does not have gift cards like what Steam has. I just decided to give up on finding safe ways to pay for GOG games.

I want to buy drm free games, but it’s so difficult to do so. Steam is so much easier, since there’s gift cards and they do take credit cards, even though Steam is a DRM itself.

I’m sorry for the long rant, but something needs to be done to make GOG more accessible for all users around the world. If anyone has any thoughts, feel free to reply. If you have other safe ways to pay for GOG games, let me know. Thanks.

Welcome to GOG!

You could try with Paypal, it´s safe and you can pay with your visa through paypal directly or add wallet.

I've been using PayPal since I registered here and I've had no problems with payments whatsoever (USD for a couple of years, PLN after that).

You can use paypal as a payment option.
1) Why don't you use Paypal then?

2) If "your payment was rejected," that is most likely because the bank who issued your credit card has rejected it, not GOG. In that case, GOG has no control over your bank rejecting the transaction. You would have to call your bank to resolve that issue.

1) I don’t want to use PayPal. It takes 3-5 business days.

2) I would love to, but at the same time, I don’t want to call my bank. It takes a bit of time to do so and they may be busy at times too. I would prefer email instead.

I’m good for now. I can live without some payment options. Thanks for the help.

I am not sure what you mean by that.

I've bought tons of games on GOG through Paypal.

The transactions always go through right away, and then the purchased games are available to download immediately.

When using Paypal with GOG, I never had to wait 3-5 business days, nor had any other sort of delays whatsoever.

Naaa, use PayPal, it's automatic works without problems.
Like Ancient said, the problem is your bank, requires authorization, with a PayPal accpunt you won't have problems.

use paypals "pay by debit / credit card option" - you dont even need to sign up

you can of course link a card to a paypal account and have immediate funds transferred / paid. its only the old direct debit side that takes that long.

This happens to me every once in a blue moon and I end up calling my bank and have them unblock the transaction to the specific merchant. Then I have to wait 8 hours before using the credit card again, though I wait 12 hours just to be safe.

Also, you may want to consider just adding an amount to your GOG wallet funds depending on your budget and do it before any of the seasonal sales so you won't get stuck at a bad time for purchases.

I usually budget it based on estimated 6-month spending for games and add that much to the wallet.

Makes life a lot simpler when I have a balance and I doubt I'll ever be leaving GOG until they go out of business or I croak lol.

I tested PayPal, and it actually worked. Thank you.
