Hi

Bought the Battle isle and Ultima games (very old games)

Is it possible to play them in full screen mode instead of 1/3 when the dos box starts? or is that not possible with the very old games

Its very annoying to play in small screen mode.

And if yes how do i switch from small screen to full screen?

Thanks in advance
Press Alt & Enter to go to Full Screen mode. ( :
Have you tried Alt + Enter?

And if fullscreen were possible, the image may stretch if your monitor's aspect ratio is not similar.

EDIT: Delayed silent ninja from a Hobbit.

DOSBOX configuration can help deal with the stretch if you have those issues. A number of TV's and monitors know how to handle 4:3 correctly.

To note most DosBox configurations I see are usually x3 rather than x2 for stretching. While nothing wrong with that, it's when they default to hqfilter/upressing tweaks that make the game slightly higher resolution but looks funky because it looks unnatural. I can step you through if you need to modify those options, although it's highly unlikely you'd have to.

Unless they use magic, they're either the same aspect ratio or the image will be streched in full screen or be pillar/letterboxed.

I've used two TV's that letterbox and act properly for 4:3 while it's widescreen. Actually it's probably laptops that stretch incorrectly most of the time, that's the only time I've ever seen it with issues.

Letterboxing isn't full screen though.

A computer has far more control over how the image displays than a TV has.

Not really. If a TV/Monitor supports the resolution, then it works, if it doesn't then it either refuses or possibly has hardware issues trying to display it. It then comes down to the programming and hardware of the display device. The big difference a computer has is the range of resolutions vs fixed resolutions like SD that we had til mid 2000's when they pushed HD TV's.

I think you need another cup of sprouts.

Most, if not all, GOG DOSBox installs come with fullscreen enabled by default. So Alt+Enter probably won't help him.

Depending on what video card you use, look for scaling settings in the control panel and change scaling settings to "maintain aspect ratio". This will stretch the image as much as possible without distorting it.

Or as mentioned previously, you can do it in DOSBox settings if you want DOSBox to handle it instead of your GPU.
