It seems that you're using an outdated browser. Some things may not work as they should (or don't work at all).
We suggest you upgrade newer and better browser like: Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer or Opera

Nice recommendation, I'm going to try this. Thanks!
Firewalls blocking things great. Even with telemetry features on, Windows can't phone home for me.

DoctorGOGgles: You can turn off Cortana and many other "features" of Windows 10 with O&O ShutUp 10

It's free, doesn't need an installation (portable) and doesn't contain any adware.

I would recommend to update and re-run ShutUp10 after the larger feature updates Windows 10 gets twice a year, because sometimes Microsoft changes some of the settings and how to disable them.

edit: The programs name is O&O ShutUp 10, but the & always gets changed to & if it is part of a link...
I was going to suggest the same thing, O&O ShutUp10. Every Win10 user should get this nice little tool. Don't forget to check for new versions often.

Unless you are a criminal hacker I don't really see what the problem is?

They have been spying on us since windows 1.0!

They have been tapping our phones since PHONES WERE INVENTED Practically!

The Internet is SPYWARE oh noes... guess you'll have to live without that convenience too...!

You're right. And while I don't like the spying and all the "surveillance" that's not why I want stuff like this removed. It uses up resources, MY RESOURCES THAT I PAID FOR, and I don't want Microsoft or anybody telling me what programs I do and don't HAVE TO run so much as is possible. Obviously not being a programmer I have to rely on programs using other programs and "trusting" that they're necessary, but when I do learn of something that isn't necessary and/or I can live without, I want it GONE. YMMV.

What a deep and thought-provoking contribution! I found the perfect place for you.

You could as well ask, "if you are not a pirate, why do you have a problem with DRM?" ... So if you are an advocate of the 'let the corporations do whatever they want with my data' mindset, then you might be preaching to the wrong audience here.

Question: did you read post #9 by eraphine, and the article linked therein? It might just be that Microsoft displays the basic search application as "Cortana".

That's EXACTLY my point they renamed SEARCH BAR to CORTANA

Because when I right click the start menu in windows 10 pro it comes up with "SEARCH" when I left click that it comes up with CORTANA!

Try it see for yourself!

All it is is a app finder with an integrated web search tool!

BUT YOU HAVE TO PUT THINGS INTO IT for it to work!

Now stop worrying!
