I'm also in the been really wanting this game for ages, but will not pre-order as I've been stung with other games. The inclusion of Shadow Warrior 2 is a nice touch I guess, but yeah that's an older game which has been on sale many times (and I have it, so no incentive for me to get Biomutant).

From the mixed reviews sadly I think this is going to sit in my wish list until it's on sale.

good decision :P never preorder
you can never know if it will be a good game or just very good marketing faking it

Mjauv: I really dislike the abuse of the word "free". It's not free if you have to spend 60 euros to get it. "Included in the purchase" - yes. "Free" - no.
yep, that's extra and not free

huan: I said I won't preorder, but I'm weak and I've been waiting for years. Installing, 31%.

Please don't suck.

I'm mostly worried about is the narrator, but we shall see.
Played a bit of it. If youre on PC and dont wanna use controller youre screwed because the controls for KB&M are bad. The narrator is annoying. The shoulda had the gibberish subtitled and be done with it.
Its not a 60 euro game. 40 euro at most.

I might get a refund depending on whether or not the devs will fix the horrid controls and the narrator.

ThomNG: Enjoy the release and this special gift of GOG for all buyers :)

As on the Mercenary DLC: it will be available as separate purchase at a later date.

Cheers
Why cant the narrator be turned off completely and the gibberish just be subtitled? Also, the KB&M controls are horrid. Why no mousewheel skill scrolling and use on selected key?

It feels like the game was made for consoles and PC was an afterthought.

I did spend few hours with it too, and mostly agree. K+M is my go-to control setup. I do have controller, but mostly avoid it if I can. This game may make me dig it out of the pile of dust just to see if it will work better. Especially the way I have to dodge with alt + WASD is against every muscle memory I have. Usually it's jump/dodge both bound to space and activated depending on if I'm moving. Doing combos involving both dodge and jump... probably only possible with great concentration against a training dummy (if such thing is even included).

The narrator... he's not as annoying as the one in Dungeons 2, but that's very low bar to beat. If someone makes a mod to turn him off and leave only subtitles, I'll be getting if immediately (for bonus points, remove the pause in gibberish reserved for narrator, just let subtitles play along the animalspeech).

One good thing - no bugs. No CTDs, no graphical glitches, everything clearly works as intended.
Streamed a few hours last night.

It's charming, full of character with some really great art direction. Combat is a little light and lacks that sense of weight or depth, but overall I'm enjoying it quite a lot.

I'm not too clued into the reviews, but some of the takes I've seen on social media are a bit off given they'll give a pass to bigger games that suffer from the same thing, but hammer this.

Runs great too

Agree with that. It's a good game, but not worth paying 60 bucks for it.

The world is colourful and well designed, combat and movement are fast and smooth, but lack complexity. Character customization is very nice, the story is just OK and the narrator is simply annoying.
If you want a better post-apocalyptic open-world action game with a better price tag, get Horizon Hero Dawn (or even Mad Max) But if you want cute and furry characters, get this one, but wait for a better discount (20-30 € would be a right price imho, 40 if you are a fan of the genre)

VausG: I guess here's the latest addition to the club of games-to-hate-because-it's-cool.
Not saying that Biomutant doesn't deserve a fair amount of criticism but the way it's been lambasted by some of those so-called professional journalists and reviewers... wow.
Well, if you don’t pay them enough like they did with cyberpunk, your going to get that...

Game looks nice enough, onto the wish list.

Indeed, didn't spend much time reading/watching a lot of the pre- and post-release coverage but I sometimes imagined the respective writer/author to actually be a petulant whiny child suffering from a severe case of ADHS/ADHD.

The tutorial takes too long, there's too much talking, the narrator cannot be disabled (except that he can by dialing the respective volume setting all the way back to 0), having to read subtitles, having to press too many keys simultaneously or in quick succession for special abilities/moves, having to go through too many steps during the crafting process, etc.

Interesting. I noticed the "narrator" settins in "frequency" group, but thought it's for disabling his random/combat chatter. Which is the least offensive part, so I left it alone. But it didn't occur to me to actually try to fidle with it, or with the "speech" volume (I explored the menu before starting the game and didn't know the distinction between speech and gibberish).

Thanks for the tip.
