And I'm not sure if it becomes a gift copy or not, but at the least, you can request the duplicate be turned into a code by GOG support.

It was possible the other times they did this as I got lots of duplicates (my GOG library is over 1,100 games LOL) but this time it "feels" different. The codes aren't assigned (I think) until you click on that little doofus looking dude. They don't show up in your account even though you've paid for them until you click that little dude. And I bought 10 games and got zero duplicates... so the odds suggest they've done something different this time and maybe you don't get duplicates.... or I just got extremely lucky (or unlucky LOL since some of them I wouldn't play with my worst enemies hands).

OldFatGuy: You mean the gambling??? It doesn't happen in every sale but yeah, they've done it before. Don't remember it ever being $3.00 before though but that may just be my memory being faulty again. With my family history I'm lucky to have any memory at all at this age LOL.
Wasn't the Pinata sale 3USD per game? This is basically it, only it got so much backlash, they renamed it.

If it's anything like in more recent past "mystery" sales, you shouldn't get any duplicates unless you already own (on GOG, of course) all the other available games in the pool. (Obviously, this is most beneficial to those who mostly buy on GOG, and who don't usually buy everything they might be interested in when it's released.) If you DO get a dupe, it will be as a gift code.

Wasn't every opponent like that in that game? You had to figure out each one's "weakness" and then they were easy to hit.

I doubt it had anything to do with backlash. "Star" simply sounds a bit more winter-holiday-themed than "piñata" does. Also, they've called it different things before in various promos.

But yeah, these things are usually about 3.00 USD.
