seriously? Is this platform becoming a Micro Transaction-esk or MTX now? also is the game that you unlock yours to keep? or do you then have to buy the game once the sale is unlocked for it?

Like the Pinata sales, you have a random chance to get a random game. This is not a microtransaction, but something like a roulette, of sorts. You have a chance to win expensive games, too, although i suspect expensive rewards (or games in high demand) are rarer to get at... I won in the past some games i didn't want in pinata sales (or something else that was similar, with random chance?) and i was able to trade them away. I gave them out for free to random winners of a giveaway though, at the time.
Well said
I've gambled in the past, just to got games that I found completely not of my liking.
I can invest the same sum, for a discount game that I can choose that, at least, I'm interested too.

The fact is that, for each one game that the most wants, they put loads of game that have a low review score, to increase sales.
If they could publish a list of mystery game, at least, you could make an educated guess if gamble or not.
I just bought a "star", and I received a game that I already have on Steam but fortunately they refunded me.
