Frankly, I don't see why you are getting a whole new computer built. All you really need is a graphics card. It can't be that hard to find a good one which fits. Worst case you need a bigger power supply for it. You have a good i7 chip. You have 16 GB of RAM. Your only real issue is relying on onboard graphics. An SSD would be a nice addition, but I don't see how your brother is going to build a computer that is "way faster" short of spending about $2000-3000 on it with all the latest and greatest components. Especially when a dedicated graphics card is all you really need for your current computer.

Ahh, don't worry, tinyE is quite rich. Actually he agreed to send me a link to download 64 gigs of ram, which he paid for. :P

Sorry, only 120 gigs and above for SSDs.

I'm with RWarehall and others that said similar things. Your processor and memory are fine, you motherboard definitely is too or it wouldn't accept that processor. Your config so far is at least as good as mine, and I don't have problems playing games you said you can't play. You don't need a new OS either.

A good graphics card + possibly a good PSU + a 512GB SSD + a new DVD drive, be it internal or external + possibly a new case (if you decide you'd really like that internal DVD and it can't fit your current case) would be a lot simpler and cheaper than what he's doing and would keep you playing with no problems for several years.

Sorry to say, but your brother sounds like a condescending jerk to me too.

Okay is anyone reading my posts? :P I live in the middle of nowhere. XD I can't just go out buy a card and install it because I know nothing about this stuff and the nearest place to buy hardware is 200 miles away. :P So I go online and order something, (like I know what to order :P and don't tell me one of you will help me pick the right one because as soon as you say one card fifty other people are going to chime in, "No that card sucks, don't listen to him, get this one" followed by fifty other people screaming "No, they're all idiots, get this one") takes two weeks to get here, but my current case is tiny so I need another one of those because even a slightly better card than what I have is never going to squeeze into this ting unless I take some stuff out (go external) which means I need to order those external parts or a new case, so another two weeks mail, and then I need a tech guy to put it together. I might be able to find one in Marquette but one can only imagine how much he is going to charge to drive up here three hours to do it, not to mention to find him I'd be blindly looking through the phone book to find a tech guy and wouldn't even know if he was reliable. He could say ANYTHING, "You need to replace your Johnson Coil; $400" and I've no choice but to believe him. :P

Okay so I get the part, miraculously find a guy I can trust to help me install it who doesn't charge me an arm and a leg for the 300 mile round trip, but then something else goes wrong. Something with the card conflicts with the HD or the processor doesn't work with it or I'm missing a connections I need or the new external DVD doesn't work right. Okay so I send the card back, two more weeks. I pick out and order another one, another two weeks. I convince the guy TO DRIVE BACK ANOTHER 300 MILES AND TRY AGAIN TO INSTALL IT! XD

At this point I'm several months and at least $1000 past where I was now with the new machine that is currently built, tested, and waiting to be shipped. Simpler and cheaper? XD

If anyone can get me a brand new card at cost, case/external at cost, and fly, on their own ticket, up here to help me install it, at no extra cost, AND GUARANTEE it is going to work immediately and perfectly, and guarantee all parts and labor, then be my guest. I'll call my brother and cancel the order. BTW, if would have to all be taken care of in less than two weeks and for under $1500 or else it will be neither simpler nor cheaper.

My brother is bulding a new PC for me. I have no idea what PC I own now and I don't know what parts will he put in the new config. Btw he is already doing it and he is to far to ask or change anything.
Give me advices!

use steam, buy only Denuvo protected games through G2A, install windows 10, run 7 anti-virus programs and enjoy "using" your computer.
Do not do what Ogdin tells you to, they are being sarcastic.
Depending on which Optiplex 7020 he has, a GPU upgrade might very well be a non-starter. There are two versions: SFF and mini-tower. The SFF will have a dinky PSU and hardly any space inside. No idea if a new 10-series GPU would fit in the larger mini-tower. Dell says something like a GT640, but that may be a really old article.

Curious to know what specs the new one will have. $1,500 can get you a GTX 1070, 256GB SSD, 1TB HDD, 16GB RAM, i5-7500, and a 3-year warranty. And $30 left over for beer, er, games. Built by someone else so the only finger-lifting is clicking the mouse and typing in credit card numbers. Add $180 to bump up to an i7-7700, but shouldn't an i5 be plenty for gaming?

My i5-6200 works fine for what I do. And it had nearly the same spec numbers for the i7 that was comparable. Like 3% off.

He also does mining on it.
