It seems that you're using an outdated browser. Some things may not work as they should (or don't work at all).
We suggest you upgrade newer and better browser like: Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer or Opera

nightcraw1er.488: It sounds like a c++ extensions issue to me. Problem with these things is there are hundreds, several per year. I think I have about 10 on my machine (can't check at mo). Some programs require. Certain versions. It's the same with other dependencies, directx physx etc. I would pop a support ticket in for a specific game and run through it with GOG as they get paid for this type of stuff. If it was me I would uninstall all c++ packages (start-add remove programs- then select each and uninstall). Perhaps you have had a failed install of one which is locking the process, or two conflicting ones.

Unuson: Given how I have no viable way of reinstalling any other version of c++ other than risking it with a potentially buggy GoG game installer, I'd rather just write the ticket than uninstall my c++ versions. If the GoG Galaxy installer works fine, it is far more likely that the downloaded game installer is just poorly optimized or broken in some way.

The game in question was Divinity OS 2, by the way. If anyone has a copy for themselves and would like to try and see if the downloadable browser installer (not the old GoG downloader platform, just to be clear) works out, let me know how it goes.

I've always felt that the GoG browser-downloaded installer was somewhat fiddly, in my experience it would often lock up and become unresponsive, but it would never do that for this long of a period during installation until now. An installer that becomes unresponsive (cannot click on it or do anything to it, and it makes error noise when you try) is a poorly-made installer in my opinion.
Well, good luck with the ticket and do keep us up to date on what it is. The galaxy and web site installers should be exactly the same product according to GOG, so if there is some difference it would be good to know.

Speaking of which, I was just in a thread discussing that. Apparently, some games have some differences between versions based on their installer. The game Riven on the downloaded-files installer was a CD version, 1.00, while the GoG Galaxy version was a DVD version, 1.10. The difference there is in how the FMV video is compressed, which produces some noticeable changes. This wasn't the only game with reported issues, according to some in that thread.

Sha_n_Dra: Unuson - 1st... seeing a Serial-Key for your Windows in your Syspecs was kind of a shock, then I realized that it is a DELL OEM one (Don't do that with regular keys).
...
P.S.: With being ones own Administrator I only meant that we have to administrate/maintain our systems on our own, not the privileges of our account.
I've corrected that post to remove it, thanks. Even though it's a five-year old Dell OEM, I'm not interested in having others access the order information from the Dell website.

Regarding admin priviledges, that was in reference to issues I've had previously with rights management on files and folders. Basically, around the time of the Windows 7 update, there was a major change to how the system organized its pathways (folders? Just a lot of "dummy" folders from the XP era such as a non-existant Documents and Folders being replaced with a Documents Library), and somehow this screwed up my user profile to the point that it had no access to any files or folders. It was a pain, but I managed to restore all priviledges to the user profile through manually adding my user account to all files and folders in the security options.

Yes, that is why any difference is interesting, the installers should be the same.
