I have bought several games from Steam but decided to buy them here at GOG as well, so I can play them without the intrusive DRM and Denuvo. I, therefore bought 'Prey' here at GOGwhich I already have on Steam.

But when I attempt to install the game I can only install it from Steam (where, as mentioned, already have a copy). So now I have in reality two of the same games that I can only install and play from Steam, but none at GOG, even though I bought one of them here at GOG.

I've tried to contact GOG but can't get a response to my inquiry because I only have had access to "chat" with an automated chat engine that can't process complex questions the same way that a human can. Apparently, I can't get to talk or correspond with a 'real' person.

I would greatly appreciate it if anybody can advise me on how to handle this issue.

Thank you in advance.
Are you using GOG Galaxy to install the games? You should be able to download offline installers from the web site directly. May not be ideal, but at least you'll have your DRM-free copy.

I believe if you keep asking the same question to the AI chat bot and answering that it didn't solve your problem, the bot is supposed to let you contact a human. I haven't had to use support since the move to the chat bot, so I'm not 100% certain how it works. Sorry.
If you are using gog galaxy 2.0 and cannot install the game using this client, try this:

- close gog galaxy completely (terminate any process that may hang in the task manager)
- turn off IPv6 in the Control Panel (Network and Internet settings)
- start gog galaxy and try again

Though I also recommend you to download offline installers if you want it DRM-free.
If you are using Galaxy and integrated both of your GOG and Steam libraries, be sure you have selected the GOG copy instead of the Steam one.

If you are using Galaxy and imported your Steam account into Galaxy, you will see a icon on top left showing on which platforms you own it. You need to select "GOG" here, then install it.

See attachment.

You can of course always install using the offline installers, which will install the GOG version in any case.

It looks like your issue has already been resolved in the post above this one. For future reference, tell the chatbot the problem is of type "other" twice and it will prompt you to create a support ticket. See the bottom of my complaint post for the exact wording. Alternatively, you can try directly e-mailing support (at) gog (dot) com
As the others have said: use the offline installers (GOG calls them 'backup'). I would even add: get rid of Galaxy. Since you care about DRM-free, you might want to remove the client which GOG is using as DRM by now.
I recommend using the software version 1.2 of Galaxy and then manually prevent it from updating itself. It's way better than 2.0 or later versions are, and you wouldn't ever have the problem described in the OP.
