Help please , I just bought the BR Enhanced version, and am not happy I cannot change McCoy's personality in-game.
So since the original version came with the purchase, I have decided to play the original version instead.

Question : Do I need to uninstall the enhanced version first, before installing the older original version ?
Please let me know, and thanks in advance.

I do not want both versions to conflict with each other.

Am I correct in assuming the original version that came with the enhanced version is the ScummVM originally offered by GOG ?

Or do I need to buy an older version of BR from GOG ??
Thanks for any advice.

No, original is a sperate game. You do not need the enhance version to play.

Thanks, I meant is the not-enhanced game that came with the enhanced when I bought it -- that one is the ScummVM version ?
Sorry if I didn't clarify.

I don't own the game on GOG, but I believe that it is.

Even if that weren't the case, all you need is original game files and one of the latest versions of ScummVM, and you have a ScummVM version of the game, presumably with a newer ScummVM than what is packaged with GOG version.

Yes, it is.
Thanks for your replies everyone !

I'm excited about getting back into the original game.
Years ago I'd bought the CD and spent many hours after work.
I reached several endings, but not the one with Lucy.

I've read that neither the original nor the enhanced version (which I'm not playing) will support the shooting gallery "practice session", but that's a small quibble.

I can't speak for the Enhanced Edition for certain, but the ScummVM version has specific fixes for the shooting range, to eliminate any buggy behaviour of the targets and score counting and the progression between the rooms/stages.

Plus, in Easy mode you will get the targets appearing slowly, following the original behaviour, due to original code that did not seem intentional. In normal and hard mode, the targets will appear faster, according to their set timings in the code. I can elaborate further on this fix, if more technical info is needed.
