Sure Celton, I'm sending a mail to GOG with the situation here in brazil. Most of the population doesn't speak english and there is a big market opportunity.
Most ot the translations suck, or there is none for major titles. RPG's are mostly not played because of language barriers. So I think that something must be done.

Since when does GOG translate games?

They don't, but most of the games that are sold here have no Portuguese or translation ports. I think that it might be time to think in a business model as they are selling the games.

If anybody want's to make loads of money, they should better target markets like Brazil, BUT where most of the population doesn't speak or read english.

I'm pretty sure that GOG already try to get their hands on as many localized versions of games as possible. The problem with localized versions is that quite often the publisher doesn't own the rights to the localizations, so there is a limit to what GOG can do.

But, GOG (which is starting to get known here in Brazil) and Steam know the potential market for Brazil. I mean, they know how much they are selling, and the numbers are rising! And by this is important to know that most of the population is not purchasing the games from pirate sites, but from electronic cloud sites like this ones. Now, in Steam, forums are crowded with requests for game translations. Then, why is it that the companies are neglecting this potential market? If GOG wants to raise their sales, isn't a good opportunity to grab this new market?IGames like RPGs where there is much more reading than FPSs. Even FPS with story are pretty difficult for the majority of the Brazilians to understand.

I have a question. Would you not have to go through the game studios that make these games to have them translated? I guess GOG and Steam have nothing to do with game content as they're probably not even allowed to touch such content. Maybe you'd have to reach out to each and every individual game studio and pitch your service as a free lancing. I'm not experienced in this field, but I imagine that's how it works, unless you work for well known studios such as EA Games, Square Enix, Rockstar Games...

Yes, that's the point, pretty much as GOG and Steam did in the beginning in order to sell the games through the cloud. But, I think it;s a win win situation for everyone, specially for GOG and Steam who win reselling the games. And the lack of looking to the big picture and specially of incentive is why no one is actually doing the translations.

Anyway, I;m able to invest in translating and brainstorm new business models to explore this markets.

i was at the dmv and they had things translated in 10 languages. Some arab guy got angry and talking trash cause his particular dialect wasnt there. It kinda reminds me of the translation subtitle police you see 1starring in reviews.

Im just gonna throw a big stick in the fire and watch it pop. If theres translations for the portuguese what about the russians, what about the bulgarians, what about AFRICA? what about iceland, what about 1000s of other languages.

If there really is that much money to be made, for business reasons it may not be a bad idea. I just wanta make it clear though that subtitle police are a special interest group . You're asking for subtitles now and i KNOW the worst ones in your language special interest groups WILL be bullying every company later.

its 2015, you're asking for subtitles now, later you will be demanding them and screwing up companies for your language interests. its a fact, look at unions look at everything wrong in the usa, special interests. Everyone in the world is so self entitled that they start out asking, later demand.
