I will be going to a LAN next weekend and inquiring about what FPS games on GOG someone would recommend for a LAN setting. There will be about 16 people, so if it could support the majority of us, that would be great. Ill be buying all of the copies in hopes of dragging some friends onto GOG as well.
Medal of Honor allied assault wars and the brother in arms series have lan and are available on gog

You can search for other lan games here if you want.

Easy, definitely Unreal Tournament. In addition to the normal deathmatch and capture the flag game types, it's got an assault match type where one side defends a series of positions and the other side tries to take them. So kind of the opposite of a tug of war. I'd kill to be able to play that in a big lan :)
I believe UT 2004 has a similar gamemode as well, but utilizing drive-able vehicles as well. I think I tried a few of those back in the day, but my recollection is that by comparison to the first UT those levels are a lot more open, tending to take place on a big battlefield where you can go anywhere.

You can also consider SW battlefront 2, though I don't know if you can directly lan in that. You might have to use some sort of server emulation software.
Another vote for UT (2004), we used to play the original at pretty much every LAN party back in the day, as well as Quake III and the old Counter Strike (and Starcraft), but UT has the most variety, concerning play modes and level designs id say.
Another vote for the original Unreal Tournament from 1999.

If you want some tactical co'op fun though, try Ghost Recon. I can't remember how many players it supports. I had a blast playing it with just two people, but getting some more on board would've been nice. The single player allows you to switch between different units, but in multiplayer you're stuck controlling just one dude (IIRC) so it'll be easier to carry out a strategy with more people.

If you want non-tactical co-op mayhem, you can't go wrong with the Serious Sam games.

Another vote for Unreal Tournament 2004. Never played the 1999 one.

I'm also partial to the original Doom (maybe it's nostalgia).

It is a fantastic game for LAN party as already mentioned above.
I'd also vote for Operation Flashpoint (for more tactical co-op) but assholes pulled it from the store.
I ended up picking up UT99, thanks for the input!

Doom 2
Quake 1
Quake 2
Quake 3 Arena
Anything with Unreal Tournament in its name
Unreal Tournament

That's all you need ;)

Thought Ghost Recon had good MP if i remember rightly
To people who've played both UT 1999 and 2004, if I've played 2004, am I missing out on much with 1999?
Does Star Wars Battlefront 2 support LAN for 16 people?

And how about Mount & Blade Warband?

YMMV but they're totally different games (and asking if you're missing out is like asking if you're missing out when you play Quake 3 instead of one of these) and IMO '99 is just so much better. The only reason I play 04 is that it's easier to find other people to play with, unfortunately.

For me the maps and gameplay of UT99 have something special that makes it a bit better than UT2004.
