I need help deciding between the Beats Solo 3 or JBL Everest 310GA headphones. I'm not sure which ones are best because the reviews are mixed on Beats. Lots of people say Beats are the best around but snarky Audophiles complain that Beats are bass heavy and everything outside of rap music sounds awful. The same goes for the JBL products. Lots of reviews claim they're the best sound they've ever experienced and other reviews claim their junk because they're made by Xiaomi. ughhhh HELP......... I just want good balanced sound with all music.

Are those the only options?

The thing with reviews on headphones is that it really depends on the listener. Ideally, you'll find a store that has both on display, and they let you plug them into whatever source you're using.

Wish I had more pointed advice, but if you're down to two units then listening to them yourself is the best option.
Well, Beats are known as the Apple of headphones in that they are laughably overpriced for what they offer.

I'd sooner suggest the Sennheiser HD 206 or 201's myself.
Personally I'll look for brands like Sennheiser, Audio Technica, AKG or beyerdynamic. Of course, there are many more brands much better than Beats, and JBL is one of them, but I think this one too falls in the overpriced category. Or I'd rather go with Sony, Philips or Pioneer than Beats.

If you want to check some good audio reviews, look on this youtube channel and its reddit.

My mother got a pair of Beats from Apple when she bought her laptop.

Personally, if I were going to spend that kind of money on headphones, I'd at least pick up a pair of Grados so that I could have some degree of respect from people that care about audio quality.

More likely, I'd pick up a pair of Sennheisers as they're almost certainly better than whatever the OP is actually listening to. If not, then why ask here and not some place like hydgrogen audio where people really obsess over audio quality?
I recommend getting a pair of V-MODA Crossfade II headphones. I absolutely love mine, even more than my old M-100s. If you're going to use them in wireless mode, make sure to get either the "rose gold" coloured ones (they actually look more like copper) or the newer Codex Edition so that you get aptX capability. If you're only using them in wired mode, then any version will do.
