Hello fellow forum users,

I'm organizing a new giveaway game: HIAG.

What is HIAG?
HIAG is a new self-made text-game.
You will be evolving within a virtual world.

About the external references you might find, I'm paying a tribute (not plagiarism).

I coded HIAG in my spare time, with a tiny coding experience: I'm neither a game designer, nor a developpyer.
Consider it as a pre-Alpha text game.
Then, it might include bugs, errors and unpredicted behaviors.

The bugs will not be corrected immediately.

What is required in order to participate?
- the official Discord client program to access the game
- to be open minded as it is 100% text-based

Who can play?
Any active gog forum user. You will get an access code, allowing you to play.

When does it begin/end?
The game should start on the 20 or on the 27 of november. I would like to reach a minimum number of players before staring it. The game should not end until someone completes the mission 5, but it could last longer. If nobody completes the game after a long period, I will end it eventually.

Abuse
If you abuse the game in any way, like taking advantage of a bug, spoiling the game to others, you will be disqualified from the game.

As Discord is mainly a chatroom system, I ask you to remain polite.
You can sure roleplay but insulting/bullying won't be tolerated: you will be disqualified from the game.

What are the prize?
The winner gets to pick a game from their wishlist worth 30$ CAD in GoG. Additional prizes from the following list will be offered depending on the number of players :
- Shadow Tactics: Blades of the Shogun
- Delores: A Thimbleweed Park Mini-Adventure
- Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice
- Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade
- Spelunky
- Into the breach
- Sleeping Dogs
- The First Tree
- AER Memories of old
- Pikuniku
- Townscaper

How to win prizes?
In my game you will get some "tokens", then I will draw the winner at the end. More tokens, means more chances to get the prize, while one token could be enough. The additional prizes will be offered randomly by me directly.

What to do next?
Let me know in the thread that you are in. I will send you by gog Chat the Discord invitation and the access code before the game begins.

Oh.

Shows what you know - I'm gonna stay a puddle of primordial goo in real world!

Seriously though, thanks for the giveaway, but I'm not in. Best of luck to all who play!
Another game, Testor0? :D I can see you changed the client from telnet. ;)
I'd like to participate again but this time the discord requirement rules me out.
Good luck to all participants. :)
Is it a single-player or multiplayer game?

HIAG is a short name for Here Is Another Game.
That way, it doesn't give too much information on the game content :P

Hello Lexor :)
That's correct, I went from telnet to another medium. Still, the interaction with the game is similar.
I find that basing the game on a protocol, or on an application, is a good challenge. I ve thought of using Discord as it could be less complicated and more engaging for some players.
If you are ok to share (zero judgement): what makes you avoid Discord? if it has been another medium (telnet again, a game client...), could you have been in?

KoreaBeat: Is it a single-player or multiplayer game?
At first, I planned it to be multiplayer, but it will be mainly single player for now, for this Giveaway. "Mainly" because you will be all able to do the same main actions/missions, but everything happens in a shared world.
For some secondary missions, an action could be available for the "first player" only, still it is not all lost for other players.

The network I'm connected to blocks Discord (and most other nonstandard apps).
I'm in!
I'm in!
Hopefully this time I will have time to play and not have school all day like last time :)
Just a small update :-)
The game will start on the 27 of November
Hi, I could try this too.
I'm in for this new strange adventure!
I have spare time today and I am in a mood for a good MUD. ;)
I'm officially opening the game woohoo.
I will send private invitation to each of you.

In order to keep a minimum of order, I will ask you to give me you Discord nickname in answer to my chat message.

By the way, Discord seems to allow the users paying some kinds of gem to the discord guild/me: DO NOT DO IT, it is a temporary server and any investment will be lost :P

Any new player can join the adventure, just indicate it here.
Even if you join late, you might still get a prize from the giveaway ;) ;)

Finally, enjoy!

It seems like a great idea! I don't use Discord myself but have fun y'all!
It was an interesting experience, but now I have other matters to attend to. Good luck to those, who continue the adventure! )

The project is really impressive. However, space exploration is a bit tedious.

I think, it would be better to mark already found objects differently than new ones. And to indicate distinct objects by type ( signals, planets, etc. ) in advance.

I would also prefer a Telnet client over Discord. Telnet and similar protocols are more suitable for console interfaces and provide better usability for text-based games, than instant messengers.
