Apparently (as told by a former contestant) it cost about a £1M per episode.
Reality TV is a lot cheaper (as in cheap and nasty)

No shit?? I would guess maintaining the house robots would be a expense.
In the States they have a offshoot called Battlebots which is currently airing.

From what I remember it was bloody awful.

Well, just watched 1/6 which was on at the weekend. Really felt like the old Robot Wars, well exciting! Some old friends back again, some new robots, plenty of debris. Funny to see how everyone has aged, even the audience seemed 15 years older.

Well worth a watch if you remember it.
