Ok, so I've been wracking my brain trying to remember the name of a game I played a a kid on my cousin's Commodore 64. It was on a disk, had no official label so it was probably bootleg, and revolved around gathering an army to assault a castle.

What you did, was you started at one corner of the map, and made your way up to a castle on the opposite corner. Along the way, you had to recruit an army from random(?) groups that you would then have to worry about paying and feeding so they didn't leave before you got to the castle. Once there, if you had enough, you would presumably win the game. I don't know, I never got that far. It was a fairly difficult game.

Any ideas?

Could it be
Sorcerer Lord
or
Iron Lord
?

I'll try to think of something else too!

No, this one didn't have nearly that good of graphics. It was just one step away from being a text game, but for the map you moved on that took up just one screen. And the enemy didn't move, you had to build up an army to siege their castle. I think you had to get the money to buy siege equipment and then worry about recruiting the men to move them, but I was about 12 when I played it so my memory is shaky at best.

I do think it was around 1984- 86 when I played it, if that helps at all.

Try looking HERE. Each game has a screenshot so if go through this (only 8 pages) you may find what you are looking for.
