It took longer than I had originally anticipated, but I have finished updating my old GOGWikiSync extension to work on the new gog.com website. This is a major overhaul with many new features that go beyond simply syncing with the wiki, so I decided that a new name was in order. (I was aiming for a descriptive and fun name - hopefully it doesn't come across as pretentious)

Barefoot Essentials is a user script that modifies the gog website slightly, making it easier and more pleasant to navigate and integrating it with the GOG community wiki. Among other things, it gives you the ability to share your wishlist and shelf, [url=http://www.gogwiki.com/wiki/User:Barefoot_Monkey]like this[/url]. Here's a quick list of the main things it does:

- Provides the ability to share the list of games in your collection
- Autohides the navigation menu and adds more convenient website navigation
- Every gamecard gets a link to the corresponding wiki page
- You can visit other users' wiki pages by clicking their names
- Preview your forum posts as you type

Documentation is available on the wiki (feel free to edit the documentaton if there's something you want to add/fix)

For Opera, you'll need to have the extension installed. Then go [url=https://userscripts.org/scripts/show/131466]here (userscripts.org) and click on the big green "Install" button.

If you use Google Chrome, Chromium, Iron or another Chromium-based browser, you'll need to have the extension installed. Then go [url=https://userscripts.org/scripts/show/131466]here (userscripts.org) and click on the big green "Install" button.

Thanks for Chrome plugin!

But something doesn't work. I have all green fields, like my account is connected with wiki, but my profile page is not refreshing, it's empty.

please tell me what im doing wrong with this:
[url=http://www.gogwiki.com/index.php?title=User:Keeveek&action=edit]http://www.gogwiki.com/index.php?title=User:Keeveek&action=edit[/url]

and why barefoot essentials bring me to nowhere when I click my nick on forums?

edit: OK , there were some problems with updating my profile (server error) but it's working now!

GOG added a new feature to the site today. It notifies you when one of your games has been updated by showing an alert in the form of a coloured number next to your "My Account" menu.

It turns out that Barefoot Essentials doesn't interact so well with this new feature. If you see a number next to "My Account" but don't see any new replies or messages when you open the menu then it means you some of your games have been updated. You can go to your shelf or game list to see which ones.

I'll fix up compatibility with this new feature next time one of my games gets updated (so that I have something to test against).
The scripts no longer seem to work on gamecard pages for me. I think the check for "My Account" is failing. It works on all other pages though.

Firefox 13.0.1
Windows 7 x64
Barefoot Essentials 1.2.3 (also had issue with 1.2.2 before updating)

Thanks for the report. It should fail like that if you have an older version of the script because of how the site has changed. Press Ctrl+Shift+A to open the Add-ons Manager, click on User Scripts, and have a look at the version number of Barefoot Essentials. If it's older than 1.2.4 then update it and the problem should go away. If it is 1.2.4 then let me know and I'll see what I can do to figure out what's wrong.

Ubivis: Really nice, do you think Barefoot_Monkey can add the functionality to his script, that we have everything in one place?
avatar
adambiser: Thanks. Yes that's possible.

As a note, I just found it that the script does not work in Opera.
I think he will be able to sort this out :)

Barefoot_Monkey, would be great, if you could add it to the essentials script ;)

I can definitely do that. adambiser, I really like what your script does.

Thanks. I'm glad you like it and will incorporate it into Barefoot Essentials. :)

If I was more familiar with Opera, I would try to figure out what's stopping it on Opera. Right now, I'm not even sure I set up Opera to read user.js scripts correctly.
I don't have error. All OK

- Firefox 16.0.1 ~ OpenSUSE 12.2 (x86_64)
- Greasemonkey 1.4
- Barefoot Essentials for GOG.com 1.2.5
I had been using the barefoot essentials add on for a few weeks but only recently made a Wiki page. Very, very impressive. Thank you to Barefoot_Monkey and anyone else who makes this possible. Really looking forward to customizing my page and exploring the site a bit more.
Alright, some annoucements!

For Opera users: As you probably noticed, the Opera port had been lagging a version behind the others for quite a few months, which was a problem because last year the structure of GOG's wishlist page was changed and the update that you guys were missing was the one that adapted to the new wishlist, and so consequently you couldn't sync your account with the wiki on Opera. I'm very sorry about missing that update and I'll make sure to avoid that situation in future. The good news is that I pushed a working version of the sync extension onto Opera's site, and it appears to have passed moderation. So you can update that extension to version 1.2.4 (if it didn't update automatically) and you should be able to sync again.

For Firefox users: A minor update that adds a "My Gifts" to your "My Account" menu. This is just a small interim update before version 1.6, which will add several significant new features. The main reason for this release is because I'm working on unifying the Firefox and Chrome variants. The next paragraph explains more about this.

For users of Chrome/Chromium-based browsers: I've been experimenting with a different approach to developing the Chrome extension which could save me a lot of time with each release. is is an extension for Chrome that let's you use the same GreaseMonkey scripts that Firefox users use, including the Firefox version of Barefoot Essentials. If there aren't too many objections, I'd like to deprecate the native Chrome extension and instead have Firefox and Chrome use the exact same version. So if you don't mind, could Chrome users please disable or uninstall your Barefoot Essentials extension, install [url=https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/tampermonkey/dhdgffkkebhmkfjojejmpbldmpobfkfo]TamperMonkey and then try out the latest version of Barefoot Essentials and see what you think. I hope that you like this arrangement - it will make life much easier for me. If you don't like this approach then let me know and I'll take that into consideration.

The next version should be out either next week or in three weeks time. (I'll have a chance to work on it this coming Sunday - if I don't manage to finish the update then I won't be able to work on it for a couple of weeks) The next version will have some navbar tweaks, a better UI for configuring settings and will have the option to hide forum signatures. I'm also working on some reply window enhancements, backlog-management, and giving gogwiki the ability to alert you if games go missing from your account. I don't think all three of those features will make it into the next version, but at least one will and the others should follow shortly.
Well, what do you know - it's my birthday today :)

Here's a small present. I made an update to Essentials to let you see a preview while you're typing posts. It still needs a little work (quotes are still treated as plain text, nesting [i ], [b ] or [url] tags inside themselves results in an inaccurate preview) but overall it seems to be working well. Update to the latest version (1.3.2) and give it a try :)

Alright, version 1.3.5 is up with a new feature I've been aiming to add for a while: an inline "quick post" in the forums to allow you to post a new message without needing a popup window. It's fairly simple now but I'll be tweaking and enhancing it in future updates.

Those of you who already have Barefoot Essentials should be getting updates automatically, but if not you can grab version 1.3.5 here.
Version 1.4 has just been uploaded. Automatic updates should kick in soon enough, and now Barefoot Essentials tells you when it has been updated and what new features you'll find.

This version features shortcut keys for adding bold, italic, underline and links inside quick posts.
and quotes too.
In addition, you can press ctrl+space to jump directly to quick post from anywhere in the page, and press ctrl+enter while writing a post to submit it.

Oh, and there's a "quick reply" button on each post. I also made some slight changes to how the forum displays quotes and bold text.

Barefoot_Monkey: Thanks, RichieBerry. I appreciate that. Just wait 'till you see the next update ;)

Woo - 1000 rep! :D Well, there's only one thing to do in this situation...
