MysterD: I have the new EE versions on Steam. I think I caught BG2 EE, BG1 EE, IWD EE, and PST EE all in bundles or deals from Fanatical.

I also have the old versions from retail for these great games too. Same goes for digital versions from Gamersgate from a D&D Anthology they used to sell w/ old versions of BG1 Complete, BG2 Complete, TOEE, and PST. A lot easier to install that way, as opposed to numerous discs.

So, I guess what I'm asking here for GOG versions of the new EE versions is this - do the EE new versions of NWN1, Icewind Dale 1, BG1, BG2, and PST also come w/ the old versions?

I can see the new versions being helpful to newbies that just want to play and go; and want some new modernizations & options - while fans of the old version might want to play as the original dev's intended and might want to use older mods that possibly might not work on new EE versions of the game.

I think as long as the options are there - i.e. New owners also are able get the old version through this one purchase, that should always be the way to go for these re-released/remasters.

Let the gamer decide.
You cannot buy the originals. You can buy the EE versions and get the originals as extras, but you cannot get just the originals. It’s a key difference.

That's still fine, IMHO - that you can buy the EE versions and get the originals as extras. I'm all for that, for new buyers.

It is "meh" that you can't buy just the old ones alone - but at least you can buy the new versions and get the old ones altogether in one deal/package.

Your missing the point, you have to give beamdog money regardless. There are many reasons why this is bad, it only the whole cash grab they did, it it opened the door for lots of others to do the same. Most recent the KoA : reshaded, a blatent cash grab with a good middle finger for GOG customers. Beamdog must have been beaming from ear to ear on that one. But yes, I suppose those new to it don’t care, these things are brushed under the carpet until the next time.

Games have been being remastered for some time - Metro Redux games; Deus Ex HR DC; Tony Hawk 1+2 Remake; Tony Hawk HD; Dead Island remasters; Divine Divinity (yep, that isn't the same as the retail ones); Doom 1 Unity Engine ports now; Halo MCC; Fable Anniversary; etc etc.

We're only going to see more of these across all of the board(s) [of both PC and console, especially now w/ most having similar architectures], TBH - especially as new console generations come about (so they get the better PC textures we already had and/or any new/improved ones they decide to take on).

I think the biggest thing w/ KOA: RR is that it doesn't come w/ Fatesworn. I do wonder if they (THQ) should've just waited until next year to re-release the remaster (as that is when Fatesworn comes out) - and do have the remaster included w/ Fatesworn for every version, as that would have way more reason for THQ to put this remaster out, as it has both new content & remastered textures.

timppu: A bit like why would anyone want to see the original Star Wars and not the "enhanced version" by Lucas?
I don't think video games and movies are comparable in that way.
