amok: please explain the context for me... because all i see is two % numbers and a number that has not changed. Compared to for example Steam or Epic, or other stores, which we need to do to find out how large market size gOg has - how does this help at all?

Syphon72: Holy hell why do you try start argument with everyone? I was just saying GOG has been growing somewhat, so maybe it's possible they might 8%.
because people make claims and statements without knowing what they are saying. whats makes that number "nice"?

edit - that 8% and the growth of users you state are unrealted numbers

edit 2 - by now, I will just point to my edit in the post 29 and leave it there

Are you two still arguing about GOG's market share when I already posted it?

I'll just post my spreadsheet here; it has Epic and GOG's market share near the bottom under [Annual]. Steam's data is what I suspect is their gross profit after remitting 70-80% back to devpubs.

I haven't updated yet, but Epic made $950M USD last year, translating to about 2.5% market share - https://store.epicgames.com/en-US/news/epic-games-store-2023-year-in-review

IllegitimateGOG: Or more likely saber knows the death is coming for 3d realms are just waiting on the perfect time to end them or turn them into a shell of their former selves

ᛞᚨᚱᚹᛟᚾᛞ: Again? That'd be what, the third time Apogee/3D Realms was zombified? Because Id software is still tucked firmly under the ZeniMax media roof.

All I want is that Cosmo's Cosmic Adventure remake. Is that too much?
The Cosmo remake is being handled by Nu-Apogee Darvond, not Nu-3drealms.

I personally don't care about Slipgate Ironworks leaving gog, their output has been abysmal.
I'll take a statement on Discord with a grain of salt though, even if it is by a dev.

agreed, I am not exactly torn up by either slipgate or some of 3dr's more lackluster efforts not coming here, I think its a fucking plus that Kingping reloaded isn't here, and should stay that way.

BreOl72: GOG with its (estimated) 8% to (at best!) 15% market share, is a niche market in the truest sense of the word.

Some people may not like that - but "the numbers don't lie".
I'm gonna have to call that a personal view.

My personal view, is that it would need to be under 1% to qualify as niche.

And if GOG have as high as 15% I find that quite remarkable, and certainly nowhere near niche, but I bet it is closer to 8%, maybe even less.
