Hi guys!
So, i bought Psychonauts, but i noticed that i don't have a backup copy of the game in my PC, but only some files that seem to work only with the Galaxy client.
They end with the extension .download.
If i try to rename them, let's say: Psychonauts.exe.download in Psychonauts.exe, the PC tells me that the file is corrupted.
There's no way to get the backup copy without re-download the game without the galaxy client?

Nope, galaxy does not use or download the executable installer, it just downloads the raw game data and runs an install script to write registry entries and such. Go to the game page in your library and click on More, thats where you will find the backup copy download.

Hello. Did you use the "Install" function? The install function doesn't produce a backup copy, but just installs the game to your PC. To download a backup copy, click the game you want, "More", "Backup and Extras" and you should be able to download the game's standalone installer and any extras it might have.

So if i download the game from Galaxy in the backup copy section, i download the standalone copy?
Didn't know that, thanks a lot!

Galaxy lets you download also the standalone installer, but you have to download it separately from the extras section.

Clicking the install button does indeedy just download and install the game, meant to be used with Galaxy (but can be ran also without, if you locate the correct exe file...).

I think this is only the case for Witcher 3. No shortcuts from the games I have installed with Galaxy so far, launched Galaxy when I run them.

Isn't that what I said?

Maybe so, I originally misread that to mean that you can't download standalone installers with Galaxy, period.
