I’m surprised by this turn of events, Atari looks to be getting more serious in rebuilding their brand. Lots of details on the transaction are available in the article.
Well... that's certainly an interesting turn of events. If anything, it means Nightdive (or now "Atari-Nightdive", I guess) get access to even more IP, which can only be a good thing.

Weren't they on bad terms when trying to re-release (or remaster) Blood games?
I have distinct memory (or more like gut feeling at this point) there was such thing...
Curious indeed.

The equivalent of a skeleton gaining power over a necromancer.
I'm just trying to figure out what Atari could put Night Dive to work on in terms of remastering stuff. Most of their games are so old you don't need much besides a good emulator, which are easily found, unless they want someone to resurrect the really old TTL games. Maybe Night Dive could actually finish Blood 2 or remaster Rollercoaster Tycoon or something :p

I do think Atari has been making some solid moves under the new CEO. Remains to be seen if it's too little too late, but he seems to recognize the importance of respecting the company's legacy and wants to build on that, rather than how his predecessors would just slap the logo on whatever the hell they thought would get them some extra cash.

I was going to say maybe a remaster of the Alone in the Dark games...

... but then I realised that I don't really know which company we're talking about, and which games belong to which :p
I honestly don't know if that is a good thing or not.

I'm sure Atari will run Nightdive Studios into the ground in short order, just like they do with everything they touch.

The WEB3 obsessed company that bought the "Atari" name.

I'm not sure how this bodes for future NIghhtdive releases on GOG
Theoretically this could be good news, as now they're a bigger company and might have more power in being able to get the rights to old games currently not available anywhere.

But as usual with these type of mergers/acquisitions, we have to wait and see how things will go.

Wish them the best and hope that Nightdive Studios continues to do what they're good at. Hopefully nobody is laid off by this happening.
