With all of the recent probably not good news a little something great popped up that does not seem to have been mentioned yet.

Ashes Afterglow, the sequel to the excellent Ashes 2063 (and it's fanmade prequel Dead Man Walking), has been released in demo form yesterday.

Highly recommended for that post-apocalyptic itch. Better to play in produced order (2063->DMW->Afterglow), but not really necessary.

Since they are Doom mods, you will need GzDoom or whichever source port you prefer to run them.
A reminder that the release date is tomorrow 21:00 GMT.

Also, in preparation for the sequel, Ashes 2063 and Dead Man Walking have been bundled in a remastered version, available on the first post.
Been following this for a few years since playing the first episode, liked the whole setting and environments. I hope the second has more RPG elements, like more towns to explore with side jobs and characters to meet and maybe get upgrades to the bike. Also spoiler from the frist episode, if it does give an explanation for what the hell those ghost things coming out the old army bunkers are its a good one and just some quick throw away one as their reveal was both the main plot and gameplay highlight of the first chapter to me.

Are you referring to the mini-boss style mutants? Or the actual numbers station computer voice?

In the end stages of the first chapter when you get to the abandoned city, you start encountering those transparent, screeching ghost like monsters in old buildings and the abandoned bunkers, they seem to make the lights flicker as they move around, can kill you in around 3 hits and I think exploded on death. I can't remember when they first appear as its been a few years since I played it but I do remember there being little hints and refences to them before you actually encounter them as other explores seem to think their the ghosts of victims of the war.

Edit: On the Afterglow web page these things are called "Others", and the bio given answers part of my question as it hints they are important to the plot and its a mystery if they are ghosts as rumoured or possibly "or something worse?".

And the download for Afterglow is up.
Cool. Thanks for the heads-up. I haven't tried any of these so definitely something to look forward to. :) I love the Doom-modding community.
