I'm currently getting some weird internal server errors when I try to buy games and have submitted a support ticket.

But I was wondering if anyone knows if I'd be allowed to create a second account which I could use to buy games as gifts and then redeem them on my main account?

This way I'd be able to get the games I want during this week's sale even if support doesn't resolve my issue in time.

If you're getting weird internal server errors with one account, logic would dictate you'd have the same errors on the other.

Besides, the second account would be new, and new accounts can't buy gifts straight up.

Officially you shouldn't make two accounts. Especially not on purpose.

EDIT: Try another browser.

Fair enough, I guess I'll just have to wait and see if support can fix it.

I've tried different browsers, computers and internet connections and still get the error.

It's been happening for over two weeks now and I haven't seen any posts about it happening to anyone else so I figured it's something specific to my account that causes GOG's server to crap the bed.

Either way, I appreciate the help! :)

Assuming your purchase method is a bank. It is plausible the bank is turning away the purchase immediately. Staff tend to say this and you would have to speak to your bank to find the reason why.

To which this has also been talked about. Usually the bank will automate transactions. When they see where it goes to, out of country. It gets denied. You would require telling your bank to allow the transaction.

If this is not the case, oh well. But chances are staff will reply this way. Food for thought.

This error happens as soon as I click the "Go to checkout" button, I'm taken to a blank screen with a teddy bear holding up the world.

I've also had similar issues when logging into the site so it seems to be related to account authentication or something like that.

Anybody you could trust to bum their wifi? Maybe a different access point? Maybe you could use a different device?

Yea I tried on two PCs and a tablet on my home network, as well as my phone which uses a 3G connection. If was related to my internet connection I'm guessing everyone in my city would have problems haha.

I first noticed it during the winter sale, it's a "500 internal server error" so I just figured it was caused by high traffic during the sale. But it's still happening over two weeks later so I'm thinking there's something in my account details which GOG's server doesn't like.

At this point I'm thinking I'll just have to wait and hope that GOG support is able to find something wrong with my account and fix it. I appreciate you taking the time to troubleshoot though :)
No prob bob. But just so you know, staff will run down the list I just did and you wont be happy. So...goodluck?

¯\_(ツ)_/¯
