I got an email from UbiSoft saying a suspicious login attempt from Egypt was detected (I'm in the US) and that I should change my password and enable 2-Step Authorization. So I do...

And then I check through my account to see if anything has been changed. Nada. But then I notice For Honor in my account. I never bought it. In fact I've never bought anything through the UbiSoft store ever. All the games I have there I got through Humble Bundle or elsewhere.

I wondered if For Honor was a F2P game? But it doesn't seem to be. I don't have it on my Humble account. I don't have it on my Steam account.

I am puzzled?

So, I'm downloading it now to check it out...

I would check your payment history by going to

"click profile in upper right"->My Orders

Here you will see if they purchased anything

Note that like a month or so ago (I dont recall the exact timing) but the "Starter Edition" of the game was free, as in free forever. Perhaps you just forgot that you added that onto your account during the promo period

I would advise that you immediately enable two factor on your uplay account. Also assume any other services that use the same username/password are also compromised. Your email may be compromised too. You should enable two factor on your email as a security precaution

Also GOG finally has two factor as well. Not that many hackers really care about GOG accounts, but you should practice good security protocols on all accounts just in case the scammers try to replicate their "Lets scam GOG for the Witcher 3 gifts" with Cyberpunk 2077 and start hijacking accounts en mass

That, I am sure, is the answer to my puzzle. I didn't realize it had been free, and I'm sure I clicked a button to claim and never thought about it again.

Thanks!

(And thanks for your advices. I am on top of my security.)
