I don't really know what to say. See it for yourself.

It will be a psychological survival horror RPG.

Francis Ford Coppola said:

"Forty years ago, I set out to make a personal art picture that could hopefully influence generations of viewers for years to come. Today, I'm joined by new daredevils, a team who want to make an interactive version of Apocalypse Now, where you are Captain Benjamin Willard amidst the harsh backdrop of the Vietnam War. I've been watching video games grow into a meaningful way to tell stories, and I'm excited to explore the possibilities for Apocalypse Now for a new platform and a new generation."

Coppola's film studio company will be involved and they brought on board some industry veterans, including Montgomery Markland who was a producer for Wasteland 2 and Torment: Tides of Numenera.

I don't know what to say. On one hand it sounds insane to adapt Apocalypse Now of all things, but on the other hand wasn't Spec Ops: The Line an adaptation of Heart of Darkness already? So there is some precedent for this story to work in a game. If they go the old-school CRPG style dare I say this may very well be a pretty great and unique game? Let's see.

Uhm okaayyy...
I... uhm... so... yeah.
When I first clicked on this I thought I had been handed the wrong thread...
Time to finally watch the movie I guess :P

Yes, I have no seen Apocalypse Now. A disgrace, I know. But there are so many movies and books and tv series and everything, and I already have so little life I should sleep in a coffin.
I suppose it's possible to pull it off, but it will be incredibly difficult. If I had to pick a Vietnam film I'd like to experience in a game it would be Platoon, but in fps form. Or just something like the original Vietcong. A nice and long but incredibly tense campaign in the jungle.

Phenomenal book too if you have the time, Heart of Darkness, though it isn't set in the Vietnam war.

I know what to say : Worst Idea Ever :(

I watched the movie mutiple times and enjoyed the original book (although it's very different) and it would translate very badly into a videogame.

IMO, the only way to get a good experience approaching the original material would be some psychological horror point&click like The Cat Lady or I Have No Mouth And I Must Scream set during the Vietnam war without trying to follow the movie/book.

Yeah. that's what I thought. It looks like they're going to turn it into some kind of first-person survival horror RPG, so there's some hope that we're going to see something different here.

The problem is that with Coppola at the helm and another key figure coming from the film world, there's a big possibility that we'll see a game that amounts to a "walking simulator" that has lots of pretty visuals but is almost empty in the way of meaningful gameplay.

I tried reading it way back in high school and got bored of it rather quickly. And just so we're clear, I'm an avid reader, and not just new and low brow stuff. Of course maybe now I'd like it better, but with so many other books to read, I feel rather disinclined to go back to stuff I bounced off of once already.
I'm curious who the target audience for the game will be, and whether or not they'll still be alive when the game comes out. :)
Hard to believe this is real. No screenshots, no concept art, no nothing at all. Scammers put in more effort than this.
Point & click adventure?

1. LOOK at "ceiling fan"
2.) TAKE "surfboard"
3.) USE "machete" with "Colonel Kurtz"

"Congratulations, you've won the game!"

Then the song "The End" begins as the end credits are rolling :o)
