I am bothered by not having the full set on some of these games... but I'm optimistic that they'll be available for sale by the time I finally get through my backlog! :-D
Whatever.

IronArcturus: Was it ever explained why GOG couldn't get SimCity 3000?
avatar
CARRiON.FLOWERS: It's completely borked on modern OS.
I wouldn't call it completly borked, as I just ran it on 64-bit Windows 10. I wouldn't call it functional, either. But I was able to open the game, have it (oddly slowly) load a city, and then unpause the game for a moment before closing it. Through dialogue boxes do appear to be largely broken.

Matewis: I'd guess with a little bit of effort it should be possible to get it going on a virtual machine with an older windows installation, like a pre service pack 2 windows xp or something.

snowkatt: or just go with win 9x to be sure
thats what i usually do
Yes but I wonder if most of the fanmade widescreen fixes for games will work on it? Have you managed to successfully get a game to run on a widescreen resolution with one of those fixes running something like win98?

CARRiON.FLOWERS: Well, YMMV, but there are things you can try.

All I know is, I tried it on Win 7 and Win 8 and it wouldn't even launch. If you do get it to launch you'll have massive GUI and framerate issues. Never tried it on Win10.
Thank you, it's a worth a shot. I'll make it a little weekend project sometime to get my old favorite running :)

timppu: I'm a bit annoyed that Demon's Soul (predecessor to Dark Souls?) and Saints Row (1) are console exclusives, while the later games in those series appeared on PC.

Oh well, that sometimes happens, the other way too (like the first Witcher game being PC exclusive, or the first two Thief games).
its worse
saints row 1 is an xbox 360 exclusive

i got all 3 games lying around

i can always give that fps optimizer for morrowind a go i suppose

( you had to pick the one i hate didnt you ? ;p )
nah not really i have to admit. If a game from a series is missing i just vote for it on the wishlist and well then either way it arrives or it doesn't. And well if buying games out of a multiple games series i kinda always "check" - Will this work for me as well if part xyz doesn't get released - dunno i'm kinda pragmatic in that regard.

No love for morrowind? It's one of the best games ever made! For the first 8 hours at least, then I get bored :P

I would enjoy oblivion a lot more if I could freeze time and not have to worry about the dozens of hours steadily slipping away...

Also, thanks for the effort, that's really cool of you :)

Dartpaw86: I want to call it OCD but I'm certain that's wrong. But I can't stand having incomplete game collections, despite of course games like the later Serious Sam, Elder Scrolls and Fallout titles are on Steam.
That's called being a completionist.

Have fun looking for Leisure Suit Larry 4: The Missing Floppies. ;-)

installing morrowind on windows 98 under virtual pc 2007
550 mb ram
nothing special

morrowind doesnt start under windows 98
the launcher face plants

morrowind also doesnt work under windows ME

might dig gta vice city up later see what that does

next up virtual box !

Stellar! Though I'm a just a teeny bit concerned by how much you seem to be enjoying this ;)
Reminds me of one of the few kind of funny scenes in BBT

By the way, what do you do with display drivers when setting up such a virtual system? Do you seek out older ones?
I imagine there might be some potential incompatibility issues when you pair up old drivers with a new gpu.
