Has anyone known of the anti-free speech crackdown happening on Steam. It is impossible to make a comment or thread without being banned, now.

By nature that sounds political and political discussions have been banned from Steam since long before any of that. Also, forums don't have free speech, they're private space.

there's regulation about bots checking threads before allow post itno daylight...and that's all.

There's one guy who lost it's whole library for racist speech. But that's done by moderators.

I've been on steam long enough to see the transition. It's been over 2-3 years, coming to completion in the last year.

You made it sound like it's always been this way. It hasn't. Only a couple of years ago, you could say anything almost (except some developers banned everyone instantly many did not).

You seem to be talking about 2 different things here? Subforums are handled by subforum moderators of which yes, many did not bother with and still do barely manage anything. Those aren't steam moderators, developers handle the moderation of their own subforums.

So your issue is that Steam has started moderating/enforcing rules (which they already had) more and more? That you used to get away with breaking them and now not anymore?

You're wrong about that too. I've seen people banned by admins, while the sub forums mods had no issues. I also am against these sub forum mods abusing the forum powers they have. They signed up to steam and with that comes a compromise. Steam sold us all out.

I assume it's the usual thing where a game has a woman in it, therefore the discussion board is flooded with rants about SJWs and how acknowleding the existence of people who aren't straight white men is the worst thing ever to happen to the entertainment industry because... reasons, apparently. I've never seen one coherent enough to present anything even resembling a valid point.

Ironically that was a time a couple of years back when it was much more free on the Steam forum. There is some intense gating, discrimination and segregation going on imo.
