Hi, does anyone recognise the following description of an old game that I cannot remember the name of for the love of my life...? I swear I tried a lot of things but I find it impossible to find any trace of it... Hopefully someone can help me here.

The game plays like an action-platformer with very light RPG elements. Like any game of its genre you had to collect various things like gems etc. It has pixelated graphics that are maybe slightly better than Realms of Chaos (look up the game on the store to get an idea). You play as a female that can transform into a pink wolf at will and obviously you can control both. Now im REALLY doubting my memory in the next but my guess the woman's name was something like "Nikita" but again NOT SURE about this!

The wolf can attack enemies by biting them and sometimes there are small areas where only your wolf-form can fit through. But in your human form you can use weapons and scrolls I believe (not 100% sure on this, been a long time). I do remember that it had a unique look of a health/mana bar or idk what it was for. It was represented in the form of a tree with leaves and the more mana (lets go with mana because it makes the most sense to me) you use the more leaves fall off the tree so it was a neat little representation of your resource availability. When it was 0 the tree was naked as in the fall and when you are full it looked like a full blooming tree in summer.

One more thing I remember is something I found pretty was when at some point I got an upgraded hammer and whenever I would attack with the hammer (ground/walls/enemies) some really neat looking white/blue bolts would float away from the site of impact. Maybe that little detail would help though I doubt it. Oh and if it helps, it had a very aesthetic fantasy font.

Please if any of this sounds familiar and you know anything that can help me find this game (even if its not on GOG) I would be very very gratefull!

Thanks for reading~

p.s. I normally dont post on these forums so if I violated any rules then im not aware of it.

Indeed. In case anyone wonders:

https://sleepless.com/iw/download.html

"Inner Worlds was originally released as Shareware. But was subsequently made available for FREE as the game was really written for DOS, and very few machines still run DOS. The game does run under Windows (usually) in DOS mode on most computers.

Unfortunately, after we decided to make the game available for free, we found that the number of people downloading the game resulting in a tremendous amount of extra load on our website. This extra load resulted in our website hosting service charging us extra money each month because we went beyond our limit.

Now, we don't mind giving the game away to anyone who wants it as long as it doesn't cost us anything (that's just how gosh awful generous we are), but we are not quite willing to "PAY" so that others can have it for free.

As such ... please understand that because of all this, we have been forced to discontinue the free downloading of Inner Worlds from this website.

However .... if you can find the game for download from some other site (and there may be a few out there ... search for files called "iw13-reg.exe"), then "lucky you"! Grab it and enjoy!

If you can't find it, but REALLY REALLY REALLY want to play the game (and who can blame you), then you still have one option. You can go to Kagi (our online order processing partner) and order it from them for a minimal handling cost. You can then download the game from there."
I see, thanks I remember again! Though sad to hear that the latest version is pretty much missing from the whole planet apparantly, nobody has it :/

Any suggestions where I should go to download the game? Or should I just stick it with version 1.2?

Oh and its sad that Kagi just closed 1 year ago, bummer cuz now its not possible to get version 1.3 anymore...

If only GOG could contact Sleepless Software and buy the game from them :(

I'd say just go with version 1.2. I doubt that there's a particularly big difference.
Few years ago I got in touch with Bryan Ford regarding a GOG release (just cause it's nice to have good classics here) but nothing came of it. Somebody else could try again if they want. Really, though, it's freeware, so just play it however you want. :)
