It seems that you're using an outdated browser. Some things may not work as they should (or don't work at all).
We suggest you upgrade newer and better browser like: Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer or Opera

nightcraw1er.488: Thanks. I think that might be one article I did look at. I use Firefox as main browser, reasonably happy with it. Epic seems pretty easy with the vpn. Suprised edge is on the list, can’t imagine anyone recommending M$ browsers for anything, chrome at least works even if it leaks all your data everywhere.

In terms of search engines, I have used start page on my main machine for years, great search. Have just switched all devices over to DuckDuckGo to avoid using google. Only really use maps and YouTube (occasionally) now, so slowly making the break. The others on there I didn’t know.

paladin181: Edge is actually a decent browser. It's based on the Chromium engine in its own right. MS could see the wind blowing and decided to bend with it. It's totally a telemetry machine; they learned from Google well there too. But as abrowser it is functional and not a bad one for typical users.
To be honest I have t used it much. Since over the last 5-10 years M$ have been systematically destroying all their software I really try to avoid them. IE was just so bad in its last incarnations, that I really have no interest in even looking at edge, even if it’s half built by another company.

It is crap cause MS? I bet you talk about other MS apps with similar experience.

I have been trying startpage.com for the past few days and am not overly impressed so far. For example, I tried a fairly simple advanced search for a specific string "sales spreadsheet" within the domain "gog.com". Startpage.com says that there are no results and yet both a Google search and a duckduckgo.com search for the same displays loads of results. I've contacted startpage support to try and find out why.

Do you actually have anything to add to any thread you partake in?
For the sake of providing more information, IE is well regarded as one of the worse browsers, a simple starch will reveal that. It’s not even able to open M$ own pages half the time. Takes an hour to load up a simple page and then tells you it doesn’t support xyz or just stops responding. It’s also a clear example of M$ attempts to monopolise computing.
As for their other products, they have been systematically destroying them. Hotmail downgraded to outlook, which then devolved into a mess of colour blobs, advertising, and mixed up folders, and is only good at losing emails. Office got downgraded to ribbons, then they saw that open source was popular and thought, we should make our own, hugely complex, zipped using proprietary zip binary file and push it out as open file format. Windows 10, I believe this is self explanatory, it’s still ok, but having to turn off spying every other day, wait for updates to install which then breaks things or installs some garbage bloatware.
Etc. Doesn’t mean I am against M$, doesn’t mean I am an anarchist or a prepper, or any other insightful comments.

Yes, I had noticed that it appears to be some sort of filtered or maybe saved search which is returned. Odd things can be missing from it. Can’t help as to the why of this however, would be interested in hearing if you get something back.

Edge is the current ms browser not ie. Things change over time. Like Blizzard which was a good company and now one of the worst.
Spying is overrated, i bet you could turn it off completly. Win 10 is still the best os.

Btw ive already written to use vivaldi it is good.

I might try this one out and see how it is. Never heard of it at all... hmmmmm

vv221: They use a Google Chrome base, then pretend to provide good privacy?
They want us to trust them, but still hide the source code of their software?

There is no way I would even download their browser.
This. Wouldn't touch it at all. And obviously not the privacy-hell called Chrome either. If people care about privacy at all, don't use the products of a company whose entire business practice relies on stealing private data from people and selling it off to others.

I have used Startpage.com for years as well, and have been reasonably happy with it. The "view page anonymously" is great as well, although a bit slower ofc. Recently I've used duckduckgo more, and for some reason they can get pretty wildly different results with the same search string.

Unfortunately a lot of people still use/recommend IE, workplaces still heavily rely on it. As I mentioned above, not really used it much (other than when, even if you drop it, it pops up from windows help or other window). IE stigmata will last a long time.

I do agree that currently windows 10 is the best OS. Spying, updates, bloatware, etc. Aside, I have had no compatibility issues, or anything failed to run. Comparable to windows 7. Linux, whilst it has come o leaps and bounds, still just doesn’t match it.

I did see your vilvaldi recommendation, it doesn’t seem to pop up in top lists though, so is off the radar right now for secondary browser to Firefox, maybe once I get that sorted.
