It seems that you're using an outdated browser. Some things may not work as they should (or don't work at all).
We suggest you upgrade newer and better browser like: Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer or Opera

mk47at: That's the reason that you test things before you push them to the public. You know, something that intelligent people do.

Linko90: Throwing insults does little to nothing than just add noise. I understand the frustration, but it's not an excuse to insult people.
He's not necessarily wrong though, even if I overall like some of the changes made. I've been pushing GOG to put more value on beta testing for a long time and GOG fails to do so every time. It would be trivial to add a beta setting to our accounts where people can opt-into beta changes and test them before a wide roll out.

That way GOG get's feedback before hand, and so do your web developers which then aren't under pressure to make changes on the fly. GOG continues to approach development with outdated ways.

Whoever the upper managment is in charge of Galaxy and now the website isn't doing a great job in making these decisions.

Pond86: Its not just the banners though. I run at a 1920x1080 resolution. I get massive amounts of space either side of any page on GOG, space that could be used. And as for the banners there's no reason to have the gradient and it fade at it eitherside, and to be so big. As I said yesterday it just looks like GOG said "Yep, everyone is going to be browsing us on small phone sized screens, lets just put everything down the centre."
avatar
Breja: Absolutely. The whole "let's aim our PC GAMES store primarly at mobile phones" approach is obvious as it is idiotic. I run the same resolution as you, I just didn't immediately realise how fully awful the desing is, as I have it set to display GOG in 150% zoom. Otherwise everything here has always been way to small for me to conveniently browse. Which in turn now means that the huge ass banners take up the eintre screen when zoomed, but in normal view it's an even worse mess.
avatar
Linko90: There's a fix in play that will hide your number of games owned if your privacy settings reflect it. E.g. if you have your settings on the most private, your number of games won't be reflected when leaving a review.
avatar
Breja: Glad to hear that at least. Still, the disregard GOG has for our privacy is unsettling. This should never have happened in the first place, and now it's happened twice.
Gearing the storefront towards ease of use on mobile devices isn't a bad idea, but it shouldn't be done to the detriment of people viewing the storefront from other devices. There just isn't much of an excuse for this with current web development standards and tools. It's not hard to make your site work well on all devices at various resolutions, it just comes down to building it the right way and testing it before you publish.

I can forgive bugs caused by compatibility issues you never could have tested for, (I've had issues before with user complaints because of scaling issues with bootstrap in an ancient version of Safari that the end user was using as their primary browser), but any current developer should be testing across multiple browsers and devices that are understood to be generally in use.

To be honest the entire thing feels rushed as can be. Like somebody said a few months ago, "hey let's redo the site for the 10th anniversary" then they had to do so under ridiculous time constraints. This is supported by the fact it took them an extra day just to roll out the homepage changes, which signifies they were nowhere near ready to roll this thing out.

Again not that I'm saying I overall dislike the changes, because some of it I am indifferent too and some of it I really like.

Just saw the new main page...

OHHHH MYYY GOOOOOOOOOOOOOD!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's like someone on the webdev team said "You know what? Words are stupid! Let's get rid of those! Let''s put pictures everywhere instead."

Linko90: it's teething pains
A fitting allegory, considering the new main page seems to be aimed at pre-schoolers who can't read and thus have to make their purchasing decisions based on shiny pictures.

News at the bottom? How am I supposed to see what's new? After endless scrolling all the way to the bottom, through countless banners and images, which make no sense whatsoever?

The new design as a whole is so counter-intuitive, I have no words to describe it.

Has anyone even tested this on any other resolution besides 4K?

<trolling>This is what we get with the new-age (read Gen Z) programmers, designers, and all sorts of workers. Shit that don't make sense, except in their own heads. </trolling>
Hello,
New look of Store Page is nice, but why the List View is removed?
Now the catalogue view was updated, too.

I've given some feedback here: https://www.gog.com/forum/general/new_ui_a_deeper_look

Yay, tiles instead of a usable list. Great.

Edit: No option to sort by price and discount percentage.

I also dislike it. A lot.

While my internet is, well at least reasonably, fast it's the untidy design, and it's characteristics, that still gives me goosebumps.

The previous design had clear distinction between aspects. One look and you pretty much found what you were looking for. Nice.
One could argue about the fact that the most popular sales were part of the front page (and a few other things), but a single inconvenience here n there is nothing I'm upset about.
But the current design... prettymuch resembles all the negative aspects one could accumulate from windows 10, Steam and so on.

No fan, no fan at all...

I want a snappy look and find what I'm searching for. I don't want to dive through loads of monotonously designed picks and "curator collections" or other obstacles. I could hardly care less for stuff like that. If I'm in the mood for it I ask or go for these functions in this case.

Please, dear GOG Team, stop going down the route of Micro$oft, Apple or G00GLE and don't dictate/decide for people what or what not they may or may not like!
This site always felt like a kind of a last bastion of common sense in a world of "stylized" media. Please don't scrap that!

At least give us the option to decide FOR OURSELVES if we want to see that, or if not.

If they would use the full width of the page, they could cut down fair few number of pages.

Also what is it with GOG and videos now. Every other thing seems to be videos. I dont want to see a video for the game when I hover over! All I want is a screenshots to cycle through.

I wonder whether there is some way to view it as a list instead of those horrendous huge tiles.

that is awful change. game thumbnail don't have game title unless you hover your mouse cursor over it to see enlarged thumb. I'm already getting dizzy from this new layout. this "hover over everything to get vital info" is very bad design and usability decision. If it'll stay active I won't browse and buy much besides my already created wishlist. Gaming store don't have to add to your migraine, right?

Also dislike the new. Mostly because it works worse than the old one. Viewing the images to a game simply takes too long and it circles with the videos. Dont know if the takes-too-long is due to some stupid fading or due to loading times.

Just to make it clear what I want for the images: If I click 'next' I want the next image immediately displayed without any animation/fading/whatever ****.

About the videos circling. Due to my browser blocker settings I dont actually see any. I dont have a problem with that because I dont like watching videos anyway. I would prefer it if videos and screenshots wouldnt circle together though so that I dont have to click at 'nothing' several times to get back to the screenshots.
