I like the fact that we can buy a star and possibly get a game that's on sale but after 4 stars, I've just received games that I would not have spent any amount of money on. I'm hoping that others have faired better than I. If you have, please comment....

Thanks!
Well its a gamble ;)

There is a tracking thread:

Isn't it a lottery of sorts?

If you get a game you have you can trade the key, if itäs worth more than what you purchased, then isnt it fine?

I see where you're coming from but you cannot blame GOG for what you decided to do.

No, you have a 100% chance of winning.

(Yes, I realize their Polish but...)

https://definitions.uslegal.com/l/lotteries/
According to the Federal Lottery Law, it is illegal to operate a lottery through the mail or over the telephone. A lottery exists when you must pay for a chance to win a prize. The prize could range from money to jewelry or a new car. The chance means an opportunity to win, such as a drawing or a matching lucky number. Consideration means some sort of payment by you. If all three elements of payment, chance, and prize are present, it's a lottery.

First of all; LOTTERY OF SORTS,

second, as far as I've seen they get their money's worth, they haven't paid for a chance.. If the outcome doesn't please them, how is it GOG's fault?

Not every game in the sale is in the stars selection. GOG doesn't do hardcore gambling / deception. If a game hasn't shown up, especially if it's an AAA game, it means it's simply not included. GOG isn't going to put in a single copy of Cyberpunk and 10% of CDP stock for shits and giggles, the worst they do marketing-wise is advertize misleading "up to" discounts.

Yep, and I recall they even said from what price range it was.

If you want to call it a lottery, that's fine. US Law disagrees. The link I gave even quotes an example of Federal Statute.

It does not meet the definition of a lottery.

If you feel strongly about it, you're more than welcome to report them here:

Man, come on. You know I didn't mean it literally.

If he/she wants to buy a star for something which definitely includes something, which he/she may not like...what's the issue here?
The way I see it, the lucky star or pinata type promos are for people that have large wishlists, are collectors, or who are looking for games to gift or trade.

If you aren't one of these 4 people, you're probably going to have a bad time with a promo like this.
Nice try, Nemesis
