tinyE: This is actually the first day since June we haven't had a full house.
Then maybe you should consider a career as a professional Poker player. (⌐■_■)

CharlesGrey: I've only played the older Resident Evil games, and they had all of this bonus content too... Except it was part of the main game, and there was no need to buy dozens of tiny extra items. The game still looks pretty good, but the way they're selling it made me lose any interest I had in it.
Have you played ObsCure and its sequel, Obscure: The Aftermath ? These games are similar to Resident Evil and let you control different characters with their own skills.  ObsCure was removed from GOG in 2010.

ObsCure
Obscure: The Aftermath
Oh, right, the Obscure games! I watched a fun playthrough of the first one a year or two ago, and it made me regret not playing it back when it was new! At the time it was released I played many similar Horror games ( mostly on PS2 ) -- no idea why I never picked up Obscure. Actually, now that I think about it, it was probably because of the whole "Teenie Slasher" theme, which I never liked much.

Why the low Metacritic ratings? The first one, at least, seems to be a good game.

Do you know why it was removed from GOG? If it was due to licensing issues, why is it still on Steam? I think it had some licensed music -- Did they remove it from the Steam version?

Oh, cool! They released a lot of stuff today.

Hm, I guess that means I can remove it from my Steam wishlist. Then again, the Steam Halloween sale should be on soon, and I wouldn't be surprised if it's going to have a bigger discount than it currently has on GOG.

Also, from the features: "POOP - In many sizes and proportions."

Is that a joke? Because I don't like POOP, in any size or proportion. :<

GOG and Gamersgate both had a DRM-Free version of ObsCure.  ObsCure and its sequel were pulled from the stores around 2010.  They were reintroduced on Steam in 2014, with achievements, widescreen and full controller support.

The original release of ObsCure had licensed music.  "Still Waiting", performed by Sum 41, was playing during the opening scene, and "Baby's Come Back", performed by Span, was part of the end credits.  Due to copyright issues, both songs have been replaced for the re-release.  Fortunately, all in-game tracks composed by Olivier Derivière are still there !
SORRY to do this, but I need the name of a Horror game sold here. :P I think they may have pulled it it, maybe not. The cover is a guy carrying a chainsaw or a gun or both. Really popular older game but the name escapes me.

NVM zeo knew it. :D

I don't remember what that refers to, so no guarantees, sorry.

Yeah, I knew about the licensed songs. What I didn't realize, is that this is the same composer who also created the soundtrack for Alone in the Dark ( 2008? ). Say about the game what you will, but it had excellent music.

Did he work on the soundtrack for ObsCure 2 as well?

I skipped on Bulb Boy for now, but bought several of the other games you recommended, including Count Lucanor, DreadOut, How To Survive; and also Fran Bow here on GOG.

Thanks again for suggesting those games -- and thanks to the others who contributed to the thread, as well!

( To those interested in some of the games mentioned here: Many of them are currently heavily discounted. I think DreadOut and How To Survive were both about 90% off their regular price. )

Oh, so you were talking about the promo pic of Alan with the nail-gun? I think that one is from American Nightmare, which should still be available for sale.
