Second round of leftovers.

Got some more spare games to unload, either unwanted stuff or games I got in bundles but already own on GOG.
Namely (all Steam) :

- XIII Century Gold
- Men of War
- Men of War : Red Tide
- Puzzle Kingdoms
- Razor 2 : Hidden Skies
- Sang-Froid : tales of Werewolves (from a Humble Bundle)
- Shadowrun Returns
- Worms Crazy Golf (from a Humble Bundle)

I also still have a couple of Macintosh games on Gamersgate that you can enter for, confer this thread.

To enter, write which game(s) you're interested in, and recommend a lovecraftian story. It doesn't have to deal with the mythos per se and it doesn't have to be by Lovecraft. It can even only be Lovecraftian according to you as long as you shortly explain why.

If I need to pick a winner for any one game, it will be either the one who recommended something I didn't know yet, or the one whose recommendation was too awesome/unspeakable not to win.
So recommending Lovecraft is high risk, high reward as I (think I) know everything by him - ghostwriting included - and have some undeniable favourites which will take the cake. Choices and consequences.

I'll leave this open at least until all games have been spoken for at least once, or until I'm under the impression that no one's interested anymore, or until I please. At least a week I guess.

I'll be cross-posting this in the french forum, so don't be alarmed if a couple french-written messages pop up here ; they'll surrender anyway.

Last but not least, since the already-used-Steam-code monster popped up again last time, I can't guarantee that it won't happen again.
Oooh, in for Shadowrun Returns please +1

As for Lovecraft I'm not really a fan of horror so only have knowledge of his work through general internet knowledge.

That being said the game Eternal Darkness on Gamecube is very Lovecraftian and is a great game. It features an insanity metre that messes with your head the higher you let it get (pretends the console has switched off, fakes your save files being corrupted, pretends you have been killed). The story is quite good too, never finished it though due to a game breaking bug which meant a crucial item dissappeared and my aforementioned wussiness and aversion to horror stuff in general.
in for men of war, looks like a interesting game +1 rep and +1 bacon sandwich for you

there is a old game i liked on the ps1 called necronomicon, im not sure if it made it to pc though, really creepy atmosphere but well made for the time in my opinion.

Thanks, I'm in for Shadowrun Returns :)

I still think The Shadow Over Innsmouth is the best nover (story) written by Lovecraft. Not too long, not too short, a proper development, far less descriptions (even if there are, of course).
Also the atmosphere is insane, and Innsmouth is a very creepy village. Also the ending is so good...
Oh, if you never played it, you should give Dark Corners of Earth a try, still the best videogame adaptation of this novel (Shadow of the Comet is also very good, sadly isn't available).
Since I'm about to leave the keyboard and head for the bottle, time for a bump.

Thank you for the giveaway, making one think again of what might be considered as horror. I am in for Shadowrun Returns although, wouldn't mind Sang-Froid as well.

As for the lovecraftian stories, I would suggest "Pickman's Model" by H. P. Lovecraft. For sometimes greatest horrors can only be revealed by the painters art. You may see a painting and never understand the pain, the grief, the fear felt, expressed by the artist. Sometimes darkest secrets of our minds may turn one insane in the eyes of others if spoken. Thus, true abominations may not be described out loud.
The story is not just thrilling or horrifying, it also represents an enormous part of truth. And creates a doubt in the end... Can we trust in what we see?

Even if I am not a total fan of H.P's fiction, I would have to recommend as people love to jizz on The Shadow Over Innsmouth, The Dunwich Horror And The Call of Cthulu (LOL), I would recommend The History Of The Necronomicon, I can dig a cult (that are not devoting to a personified Mary Sue) an object that is supposed to be represented as a horrifing force of nature (that isn't fisical and dependable of outer outcomes of the world) but is just there because fuck you and your phisics! (to which I say the lovecraftian creatures even if build up, and had impact there is no sense of "sensible" lore that comes with them), and well I am'nt a fan of most of those works, except for the necronomicon, because I was introduced to him, with his books of science, and fuck me sideways he even talked about alchemy being plausible as an abstract tool to which we use the transformation of elements!-kinda like

oh and also I would be in for XIII Century Gold
I'm in for Shadowrun Returns! =D

Awesome giveaway and +1

As for lovecraftian story, how about The Hounds of Tindalos? That story gave me nightmares... once I could actually fall asleep :P I read it in a Cthulhu Mythos compilation book, though it wasn't written by Lovecraft but by the following he left behind after his death. Oh no, to many straight lines... I can't sleep now...
In for Shadowrun Returns, please ^__^

How about Cthulu Saves the World? XD I've only watched the intro, but I wanted to get into it and start playing right away (sadly, real life intruded, and I haven't gotten back to it yet.) Definitely check it out if you don't have it already ;D

Thanks for the giveaway~!
One bump, coming right up.
Count me in for Shadowrun Returns, thanks.

For a lovecraftian story you may want to check out Kraken by China Miéville; which features criminals, police, cultists, and wizards who are locked in a war to bring about (or prevent) the End of All Things.
In for Shadowrun returns. For the story, I see no one has recommended the John Carpenter Movie "In the Mouth of Madness." It's generally lik Lovecraft with the serial numbers filed off, but since it ISN'T Lovecradt, you'll run into a few neat ideas you wouldn't expect. Give it a shot.
Another Lovecraft based story (although it's nothing like what you're looking for) is Hello Cthulhu, which is exactly what it says on the tin; a mix of Hello Kitty and Cthulhu.. there's not many episodes but when I used to read it it was quite funny... :)
XIII Century Gold please, played and modded the hell out of it by a friend, but I still don't have it for GOG and with the ability to download the newer mods.

If you don't mind romance-comedy anime, then for a change from other suggestions I would suggest you the "Lovecraftian" anime "Haiyore! Nyaruko-san" series. For a pure Lovecraft fan it may feel crazy, but therein lies its own charm to my opinion.

edit: although I know "purists" will want to lynch me for this suggestion, as for them it is a brand new kind of horror to see their characters presented in an anime like this. XD

Hi! I'd like to b in for a copy of "Men of War", I'd b even Moore in for "Women at War" but appears it doesn't exist though :/

How ever! I do recommend "Cookies At War" ,it's real simple to play! Just get a plate with cookies on, and then first stare at them! This will upset and confuse them! Then Atack! ,simple dive down and eat all coockies, beware some will try to escape! ...and then the aftermath...crunches here and there ..just some crumbs...and then no more cookies..cookie finished :/
