HuginnGreiling: Thanks—regardless of having not won (and there’s no particular reason I should have, there were lots of good entries) I was pleased to have been able to make the meter work.

Actually I wasn’t aware that haiku had become a meme; I wanted to write one because the Japanese element was a huge aspect of cyberpunk, both in Gibson and specifically in the world of Cyberpunk 2020.

I think the popularity of the haiku form has a lot to do with its stricture (it's very easy to tell if the poem is a haiku) but certainly the brevity inherent in the system.

(I haven't read Gibson for more than a decade (or two) and so I had forgotten his contribution but that would grant the poetry form a golden provenance, which would explain why it has become popular, too.)

Mikros99: Mine was:

"Too Many Gods, Too Many Masters. Wake up!"

Corporations and gangs control everyone and everything and V is someone who should "wake up" and exit that system, as far as I understand story.

PS It probably isn't technically original tho cuz "No Gods, No Masters" already exists

Karnettech: I remember your sentence! I didn’t think it would win when I read it but it stuck with me through many others, there’s something good to it.
Thanks :)
