Vainamoinen: That depends on what your goal in a discussion is. If it's just to "be right", of course everyone can do it, especially those who aren't. If you're trying to rationalize, debunk and convince, that is much much much more difficult to achieve, seing that debunking bullshit takes infinitely more time and work than making bullshit up or just parrotting it from elsewhere. However, if your goal is to arrive at new insights, if you're trying to pool your intellectual resources and have everyone's preconceptions challenged, that needs a whole lot of good faith and the absence of the disruptive opinion.

Those times are over, that can't be done anymore, at least on this forum...
Perfect example of someone who is absolutely convinced that they're right, in spite of being blatantly wrong.

Fallacies *cannot* be advanced by the proper application of informal logic -- period. That requires sophistry or propaganda, which are intentional *misapplications* of informal logic.

Furthermore, once you understand a subject it does *not* take ungodly amounts of time to debunk unadulterated BS.

So when it comes to saying what can or can't be discussed on this or that forum, you really don't have a pot to piss in -- and won't until you're prepared to set a far better example than what you've shown in this thread -- some of which is as low and despicable as what you frequently ascribe to others.

If by "accidentally" you mean "necro a thread that has already became a shitstorm the first time around with something that everyone with a half a brain knew will start another argument on a tired subject that becomes a shitstorm every single time" then yeah, sure.

I don't even want nor have time to go through this thread but I already see it's going in the direction (if it didn't go already) that we don't want to see on GOG forums. Please, let's keep political discussions out of GOG, as they always end up with a fight of sorts. This is a gaming community, so let's stick to games and topics around them.
I'm closing this thread and ask you not to continue such discussions at GOG. Thanks!
