Hi. I recently bought the witcher games on GOG and started playing the first one using Amazon Luna. I have been playing for 2 hours and reconnecting to the game I see the save data.

I would like to get access to the save files in my computer (in case I decide I want to play offline / just to make sure I don't lose progress and also because you can use the save files from one game when starting the next one).

Unfortunately, I don't see where the save files are located. In Amazon Luna the "game save data" section in the settings just says "No save data found to select. Playing supported games on Luna will automatically create save data that you can later download if you'd like to move the information off of Luna."

Has anyone tried download save files for GOG games from Luna?

Thank you!

EDIT: Sorry, misread, apparently Amazon implies you should be able to download the save files somehow?

They do imply you should be able to download the save files, they even have this page describing how to download save files:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/help/customer/display.html?nodeId=G2X2BZPDQRRWMVEW

With somewhat confusing language:
"Note: The dropdown only shows games that are leaving the Luna library and have accessible save data."

So... You can only download save files for games "that are leaving the Luna library"?

I am hesitant to play games on that service if I can't access the save files... I was hoping they'd have some sort of synchronization with GOG cloud saves given the partnership.
Good news! It's possible to download the save files generated when playing the game in Luna!

I went to GOG Galaxy, and followed the instructions in the "How do I back up my cloud saves?" article in the GOG support center (forum won't let me post links)

Even though the interface doesn't make it clear where the files are saved (or if they are correctly saved), I do see all the save files I have while playing the game in my "Downloads" folder (using MacOS) inside my home directory "Downloads/the_witcher/!Cloud Sync Backup/saves":

000003 - Kaer Morhen interior (autosave)-004.TheWitcherSave
000003 - Witchers' laboratory (autosave)-001.TheWitcherSave
000004 - Kaer Morhen - exterior (autosave)-002.TheWitcherSave
000007 - Kaer Morhen - exterior-007.TheWitcherSave
000008 - Kaer Morhen interior-008.TheWitcherSave
000009 - Kaer Morhen interior-009.TheWitcherSave

That is actually a good, or at least sane, feature in Luna then.

One of my main objections against streaming gaming is exactly that, you are in a middle of some 150 hour RPG and then you get a notification the game will be removed from the service in one week, and you can't necessarily finish it in time.

But if they offer you the option to download the save games and continue with them with your local version of the game... that takes care of that problem, at least in Luna where you can play streaming versions of games you've already bought on e.g. GOG.

Something positive then!

EDIT: So if I understood it right, Luna saves the GOG game saves to the same cloud where Galaxy would save them? Ok then, that's cool I guess, one can get them from there.

Still not going to subscribe to Luna+ myself, but credit where the credit's due.

This makes sense to anyone because why? 0_o

Offline installer= no worries about losing saves.
I've been playing Wrath of the Righteous and my saves have been syncing on my computer through Galaxy. Unfortunately the game version on Luna is outdated and playing those saves on my PC would likely make the Luna saves incompatible. That's something that really needs to be fixed (by updating the Luna version of the game).

Limited space to install games on my laptop, want to play games and don't own a Windows machine, etc.

Seems legit then. I was not aware it allowed cross OS options..
I started Kingdome Come 2, purchased on GOG, played with Luna+.
I played some hours but I can see no save game data if I open the savegame settings on Luna website...
Are the savegames from Luna synced with the Galaxy Cloud saves?

KCD2 is a Gog game on Luna. The saves would be the Gog cloud version.
