I think they are nice; but it does not really matter for me if they where the original or not.
I don't use desktop shortcuts so I couldn't care less.

AlexKVideos1: One of my pet peeves with GOG games is how the game icons look. I don't like the round shape as it can cut off the game artwork, and doesn't really match up with other game icons. I will give them though that the icons are high quality, rather than using the original which look like ass.

I know that I can change them, which I always do, but I can't be the only person who doesn't like how GOG does their game icons?
To me they are hit and miss(quality/etc). The fact they are ROUND irks me more, being a person with OCD and all.
I honestly couldn't care. I'd rather just play the game.
It is a bit annoying.

Where are the star shapes, and oval, and squares, and pentagram icons?
I agree, round icons can cut off part of the artwork, but it a quick way to tell if a game is the GOG version.
Round icons blow ass.

Neil DeGrasse Tyson memes are truly the gift that keeps on giving.
I like the consistency of the gog icons. "square" icons aren't provided by every app, and they vary in style. The circular border around the gog icons ties them all togetherr As others have mentioned, it's easy to tell which icons are gog games.

Like clarry, I just use the short command names I assign to my games from the terminal, though, and very rarely use an icon. My desktop is for windows, not icons. Unlike clarry, though, I have some graphics on my desktop (a repeating pattern that if I stare at it, looks like it's 6 inches behind the windows) and a button bar that includes CPU, network, weather, and other dynamic info I like to see, as well as the "standard" applications menu. I also put extra effort into ensuring that every game has its gog icon in the applications menu, and assign extra categories to organize the menus, as well. I never use the application menu, though, other than to test that it actually works, so it's just wasted effort. Looks pretty, though.
I don't like how they have a habbit of not loading in Galaxy until I select the game.
