snowkatt: jrpg series from nintendo

cant tell if serious or not ;p

oh yes
its just that this game seems in a habit to ferret out the really stupid ones
avatar
GabiMoro: I remember, long time ago, seeing some cartoons (Pokemon) but I changed the channel too fast. So they are some kind of strange fictional animals?
yes
pokemon is a contraction of pocket monster

and they are rather bizarre fictional animals
the gist of the game is to catch them all ( 700+ ) train them and send them out fighting against other trainers pokemon

its all rather grindy and i hate grinding so i dont care for it

I've always loved the concept, but find the execution has always let it down.

My problem is there are 700+ Pokemon but you only ever really need 6 (maybe a few more if you change your party around much, but then you have to grind more) and some are significantly better than others... what's the point in having, say, a Raticate when you could have a legendary Pokemon instead that's hugely more powerful?

I've been playing Chaos Reborn and thought it would be a really good fit for a Pokemon game. Weaker Pokemon can be summoned in multiples (so swarms of bug Pokemon) while stronger ones mean you can have less at the same time (so you can only have say two legendaries at the same time and no other Pokemon)

drewpants: While these are all monumentally stupid, I really can't stand Pokemon go taking all the blame for it. Let's face it, the problem here is that these people are morons all on their own.
avatar
adaliabooks: Yeah, I think this is worth remembering. Stupid people are stupid, Pokemon Go is just giving them an outlet for that stupidity...

Just look at the annual Darwin awards to know that people have been doing stupid and dangerous things long before Pokemon Go came out...

I was just about to mention the Darwin awards. Reminds me of Bill Hicks saying 'We didn't exactly lose a cure for cancer here.'

Not that I don't feel for people who get hurt, but it is a little hard not to just shake your head and wonder what they were expecting.

adaliabooks: I don't know... while I can't see the current hype being maintained I can see it lasting quite a while. As I understand they've only put the first 151 pokemon in, meaning there are hundreds more still to add at later dates to keep it fresh and interesting.
And if Pokemon Shuffle is anything to go by they will keep adding new features too.
Thank you, that's encouraging. I never cared much for pokemons outside of memes, but the local Satanic panic (seriously, the top parliamentary defense advisor says the game is asymmetric spiritual warfare and should be banned) makes me think if I only play one augmented-reality game, Pokemon Go is far from the worst pick. Maybe I'll even do some good for OpenStreetMap while at that.

Starmaker: snip
Check out Ingress, the previous augmented reality game by the same dev team. It still has a following, so I expect Pokemon Go will be supported and keep a dedicated player following fo a while.
My friends have started playing it. Its getting even more annoying.

bad_fur_day1: I'm also confused as to the purpose of this thread, who exactly is going to stop playing this because some guy on Gog said it needs a break? No one? Also making a thread about it is only advertising it more, achieving exactly the inverse of your stated objective.
I'm case you or anyone haven't realized by now, this isn't to meant be taken seriously.

Just for the record, you know. I was a crazy Pokemans kid in the 90's aswell.
Well, if it had up to and Generation 2, i would now be playing it, too. And battles. And trades. But it is half finished and incomplete. Compared to Crystal and Yellow, it is very meh.

I haven't looked at Pokememes for ages. I miss it :(
