Hi. I already own the base game of "Surviving Mars" through Steam. However, I was wondering if I purchased the DLC's (via Season Pass) from GOG, would they install to the Steam Edition of the game? How does that work exactly?

ALSO ... How about if I purchased the First Colony Edition from GOG (includes the base game), would I have to reinstall the base game, or could I choose just to install the DLC/extras into my existing Steam version of the base game?

Thanks for any insight.

-Tim
You can't. GOG doesn't allow buying a game DLCs if you didn't also owned the base game here.

On the 2nd scenario, you have to uninstall the Steam one and install the GOG version. If you add the GOG installation to Steam, you would not get the achievements as those 2 got different DLLs detection.

Gotcha, thanks. I had added it to my cart, but didn't fully comprehend what that little note at the top was saying. I thought it was just letting me know, like every other site, that these would not work without the base game. But yeah, definitely says FROM GoG.

On the second one, could I make a copy of my settings and games saves, then just paste them into the proper directory for the GoG installation? That is the only thing I care about ... achievements are supremely UNimportant to me.

Thanks.

Generally speaking you should be able to move saves from be install to another, they may reside in different folders however. One key thing is if the games are different versions. If oh take the base game files and it’s the same or similar version it should work, however if you had mods installed the would need to be on the GOG version too (this can be an issue as some mods are hidden behind steams proprietary workshop). Also if you had any patches or dlc installed that might also need to be the same on the GOG copy.
So tl;dr;
Possibly to likely, only by trying would you know.
Both Steam and GOG vanilla version should be on par.
