Last night i opened up BattleTech, continued from the last save, witnessed the loading screen and got meself into some armor crunching. It wasn't for long that i thought " damn girl, you look beautiful! " followed up with " its gettin hot in here "... "and noisy"
of course someone forgot to set the softlock for fps (again) and here i was with the game running well over 120 fps, looking nice but also feeling quite hot all in all. This had me thinking, i do want that nice high fps look but i certainly won't want to feel the accompanying heat etc etc.

Does someone know is there is already ai upscaling software that can be set? for example, i want to pay for the first 60 fps and have the rest 'imaginated by AI?
Whatchu talkin' about, Willis? It's a video game, not a movie. Frame generation would have to quantify against a nigh infinite number of possible results.

Just optimize the game engine, cap the engine's frame rate, Use VRR to deal with frame continuity, and there you go.

Yes of course. AMD and nVidia have this capability. Many games on the Switch need to do this. Most games with ray tracing need to do this. However its up to the game to offer the option or it can sometimes be modded in.
Example mod: https://www.nexusmods.com/site/mods/757?tab=description&BH=4

Lookup DLSS or FSR. There's both up scaling and frame generation (Interpolation) variants.

Haha! It's been years since I heard that one. Thanks for bringing it back! :)
There is actually, there's a program on steam called 'lossless scaling' that enables ai frame generation for non Nvidia 4000 series gpus (I'm using it on a 3080). It's like 8 bucks (US), I've just been playing around with it the last few days and having great success running kingdom come deliverance at 144 fps. It can be run without steam, although I don't know if it's sold on any other platform. It also does image scaling, but I've just been using it for frame gen. You just lock your in game framerate to half what you want displayed, run it in borderless windowed, and then turn on the frame generation. Also handy for high framerate snobs with 144 hz monitors to run old games that are capped at 60.

how nice,

does it also work with GoG games ?
Rife does a pretty decent job, i mean when it doesn't know what to do it does a motion blur/fade between sections, and others where it knows what to do it looks good. And if you're pulling from video game footage, it should do well enough.

Yeah sorry, I should have specified. I've only run it with gog games so far and it works fine so long as the game is windowed or borderless.

Absolutely great man !!

tried it with CP2077 and Total War Warhammer 3, in WH3 i even had a almost stable output of 144 fps, at 250W, i haven't managed that before, i think it is stuck in the 70's on CA's engine, even when running full power on a 3090Ti

imma experiment to see what will happen if i start poking around with options and fps
lol, Fantasy General AI frame generated and uplifted... works quite well tbh. With DoW2, Cyberstorm and Submarine Titans results have been less encouraging
Some games really do benefit from the frame generation. Take Fantasy General 2 for example. Go over 60 frames and you find yourself in the 200W territory. If set to 30 fps you have a nice clean 78W user profile but anything but a smooth gameplay experience. With lossless scaling, you can increase this to 90 fps at 100W's. Probably an example of a 'less optimized game engine?' but certainly worthwhile. And, only with the slightest hint of artificial frames when you start with frame generation.
This software "losless scaling" is like so good i won't be needing that 1080p monitor anymore i just bought!!!

@anyone in for a deal??
