Guys, a question for you. I have been using for a while now the speakers on my ASUS 27 inch VN279QLB, which are fine, but I am considering getting separate speakers. I have seen suggestions for these:
Creative SB Roar (or version 2)
Edifier Exclaim E10 2.0
Now they both seem ok, the creative being twice the price. I am only really going to use it for the PC and would like something a bit louder than the speakers in the monitor. Now I am not an audiophile. So which out of the above would you suggest, or perhaps you have some better ideas (I don't want to spend a fortune ~£100).

I've found that Logitech speakers are just fine for me, although I've had mine for years and years and the left one just conked out on me.

When my remotecontrol died of my old Creative 2.1 set I just searched for a replacement, eventually I bought a second hand Creative 5.1 set for 15 euros. Since a lot of people are ditching their desktops you can get good working sets for next to nothing if you don't mind buying 2nd hand.
From all speakers I have owned, these are the ones I liked most. Cheap and to the point. I think they have good sound quality, but then again, I am not audiophile either.

But if you are not picky, I'd say that any Logitech between 10 and 25 $ should do the trick really.

A set of headphones should not be overlooked, in addition to speakers. Headphones really add to the atmosphere when playing a survival-horror type game with the lights in the room out.

Logitech is not my idea of good technics. They have been known to stuff up and Creative is much more reliable.

Yes, that has been my thoughts since early days of soundcards, always gone with creative from soundcards.to mp3 players. Last.i heard though was creative labs had gone under, bur apparently it was just a withdrawal.

A good headset can work as speakers too! I actually do this when I need speakers. I crank up the volume in my HyperX Cloud and put it on the table :P The sound is actually not bad. I've seen a friend own a Sennheiser-headset that actually had speakers on the outside of the earcups as well.

Beats Solo (original) FTW!

You may not want speakers after you put these on.

Beats are a ripoff. My Sony 'phones cost a fraction of the price yet sound just as good.

I'd recommend the Klipsch ProMedia 2.1
I used them for years, great speakers.

The Solo (original) was the only one I liked, the rest were pretty much what you said. I didn't find anything that came close to them for under $600, including Sony. The low end is amazing, high and mid range are sweet.

Yes, I don't like headsets personally, but thanks for the advice.

Sorry, can't find them in the UK.
I'm looking for 2 (rear) speakers too, but.. everything under 100$ seems crap!
I don't undersand why decent audio must always be so expensive -_-
