Ok, so I am just checking the Amazon Black Firday deals and one of the monitors I was watching has dropped £170. Now I am really torn whether or not to get this, its only £100 more than the 27" WQHD monitors. So I am really struggling to make a decision. The one in question:
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Acer-34-Inch-Curved-Monitor-Silver/dp/B01DOIFV12/ref=gbps_img_m-7_5a5c_f731b094?smid=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE&pf_rd_p=bc9351a8-cda0-495a-83be-3d9b1ce45a5c&pf_rd_s=merchandised-search-7&pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_i=161428031&pf_rd_m=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE&pf_rd_r=KYQMW1559A6EQY4RSX5C

It looks great on paper, 7" more than my current one, UHD, G-Sync. I have a pretty quick machine with a 8gb 1080FTW - which I may replace next year depending on how the new range of Nvidia cards come out. So theoretically I should be able to run things here, maybe not with all the bells an whistles for latest games.

What do you guys think, is it too ambitious, or sound like a good deal.

I did like the Smooth Gaming section half way down where three are side by side!!!

I also notice this one, ex-display, is only £60 more and has a better rating:
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Acer-UM-CZ1EE-P01-Predator-35-Inch-Ultra-Wide/dp/B06XNN23KL/ref=pd_vtph_147_tr_t_2?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=6MHQWRKVTMCF2R800B7C

Its all so confusing with all these different types, and several reviews saying issues with this and that.

So, latest update, I caved in and brought the Acer X34A QHD. Omg, its so nice! Its like moving from 640*480 to 1920*1080 back when. The res is so much sharper, colors and textures really pop. I have it at 90 refresh, and it seems smooth as anything. I snapped a couple of pics what I had before and what is now, the image really stands out as different.
Well worth it though, although it does cost a lot.

The ONLY way you are going to get framerates to match that refresh rate is probably with a 1080 ti depening on the game, settings, and CPU. Odds are likely you will get CPU bottlenecked before GPU bottlenecked. I dunno what games you would play, but trying to render double the pixels (or is it 4x, I don't know which is true) for the display is very demanding on the card. Bells and whistles? Maybe medium to high at 30 fps is what I am thinking. I am thinking on the bells and whistles part that a certain upcoming game for PC from Square will need a 1080 ti to set everything at 1080p maxed and have a good framerate.

It's 3440x1440, so ultra wide qhd. Fallout 4 runs nice and smooth on it, from 8gb 1080 ftw. Lots more real estate on the screen and textures all look at lest double better. May upgrade graphics card next year when the new series comes out, but for now this really looks great!
I'd avoid 4k for gaming right now.
Maybe with next year's GPUs, possibly with a better monitor tech too, and surely with a lot of cash :P

I know :o) been saving up for a while and brought a monster system, so wanted the screen to go with it. Jet set willy is going to look so good on this (will post screenshot if I can get it running).
Only advice I can give you: Take one that is exactly two times wider and two times higher (i'm talking physical length here) than a normal 1920x1080 monitor. That's the feature most companies skimp out on. I warned you, don't be angry if you need a magnifying glass later.

tinyE: I can't even begin to imagine where I would put 4000 monitors.
Covering the inside of one of these.
