"The Advertising Standards Authority has confirmed to Eurogamer that it has launched an investigation into No Man's Sky.

The watchdog launched its investigation after receiving "several complaints" about No Man's Sky advertising, a representative told me.

The ASA has the power to have advertisements it believes are in breach of its code of conduct withdrawn, and prevent them from appearing again. If an advertiser refuses to comply with an ASA ruling, it can impose sanctions, such as asking internet search websites to remove a marketer's paid-for search ads.

The investigation is on-going, and so the ASA declined to comment further, but one of the complainants revealed details of its response in a post on Reddit.

The investigation revolves around No Man's Sky's Steam store page, which includes assets some believe misrepresent the controversial space game. ..."

kinda interesting. although i don't have high hopes that it will achieve anything, since pitchford is still alive instead of being sentenced to death by slowly bleeding out of his scrotum. its sad to see with how much bad stuff pubs and devs can get away over and over again. the only thing they really have to fear is their own conscience, in case they have one. "it can impose sanctions, such as asking internet search websites to remove a marketer's paid-for search ads" they really call that sanctions :) it would be if asa would impose them before the game launch! what would these sanctions achieve now, aside from being an other punch into the face of nms owners who can't get a refund?

Yeah, it's a shame what they did. :/ Hopefully they don't fully get away with it though.

Doesn't sound like much of a penalty at this stage.

actually it looks like that they got away with it already. almost no psn, steam or gog customer got a refund. just visit the no mans sky steam page and read what steam wrote in the orange line box below the pictures

yeah, I've seen that... If they have to put that message there, it really says it all eh? Big warning to anyone thinking of buying it.

Yes, but they're using a wet noodle, and those can leave starch stains on the sleeve. You know how irritating it is to remove a starch stain? That's like an extra 5 minutes in the washing machine!

That'll learn 'em!
