How can I disable the activity feed notifying me someone on my friends list has achieved a trophy or whatever while using the site? I don't want the purple notification about that. I don't care. Do I have to remove all friends from it?

I think if you completely disable your profile you won't get the notifications (I know I don't). Your account --> Orders and Settings --> Privacy --> Uncheck "Profile enabled".

Side effect is your profile won't be visible to anybody, because there won't be a profile to begin with.
