It's basically been said already, but as I found when replacing my old laptop after it broke, GHz don't mean much these days with multi core processors. My last laptop was 2.4GHz if I remember right, but single core. My new one is only 2GHz but triple core (i-3) and is way faster.
Multiple slower cores is better than one faster core, so when checking requirements remember to take that into account. If in doubt there are a lot of benchmarking websites where you can put your system details in and compare them to a game's minimum and recommended requirements to see how you fair.
Also bare in mind that indie games often lists minimum system requirements as the machines they're build on - the developer's machine which is really stupid, but I guess the indies just don't have the resources and time to properly evaluate the minimum hardware and OS requirements of their product.

There is also the case of games with crappy graphics that must be able to run on ancient PCs, but they can't because they're build on heavy framework or engine that sets the requirements unnecessary high :(
This has been very enlightening, big thanks to all. Now I can take a swing at Neverwinter Nights 2 as well, I did a cpuboss.com comparison between my cpu and a couple of 3GHz Pentium 4's, and the results were very favourable.

FlatOut 2 worked just fine as predicted.

its a game from 2006 so no problems there

gta vice city if you stil have it wil run in everything maxed out

crysis probably wont but thats because crysis was the graphics standard for years ( yeah but wil it run crysis ? )

most if not all games on here will run just fine with your set up

try vampire bloodlines next
its a great game
and im running it on an intel hd 4000
Don't worry about cpu, if anything it will only slow down the frames.

RAM can be substituted with the pagefile. For example: Witcher 3 needs 6GB minimum, but I removed half my RAM so I only had 4. Noticed no performance change, but sometimes got a windows out of ram message unless I set the pagefile to 4 gigs. Works perfectly with the pagefile on.
