stg83: Well those are not really Ubisoft games as they are just published by Ubi. The developers of those games have all their other games without Uplay so it isn't really a big surprise. The only real exception to the rule is Grow Home. :)
What about Might and Magic X? It's not made by Ubisoft, but by Limbic Entertainment and yet, it uses Uplay. Also, Heroes of Might and Magic III isn't merely published by Ubisoft; it's owned by them.

Ghostbreed: No, I don't own FC3. Should I get that one instead (and ignore UPlay)?
avatar
Rievier: You can't ignore Uplay sadly since that game also require it. I was just saying that Far Cry 3 has a better story with a great villain, while 4 is just a rehash of the the third, only just bigger in size. Just look at some game-play on both games and you'll notice yourself.
I mean ignore that UPlay is a fact since FC3 sounds alot better than FC4

Ghostbreed: One DRM is slightly okay, but two? No.
avatar
timppu: So buy it directly from UPlay instead? Shouldn't it then have only one DRM, the UPlay account?

Or is this a case of "No Steam, no sale"?
Once youve bought it on Steam, some of these Uplay games (or most?) don't even need Steam to play. You can go directly to Uplay.

You might as well ignore Uplay. I mean you open it to play a game. Once you're done, close it. It's not exactly getting in the way of anything.

Indeed its owned by Ubisoft my mistake, I guess the HoMM III HD version by DotEmu was the exception there as far that series is concerned.

uPlay might have had some issues, but nowadays it's a silky smooth experience.

I've beaten some uPlay games that I bought on Steam without issue.

You sure about that? I have heard of people complaining that they are unable to run their Steam-bought games on Uplay, without Steam launching.

What about Steam achievements? Yeah, I'm a sucker for those. :P

yeah Iv got some that are tied to my Uplay account. You can also launch them via Steam but it's all the same. It's not a big deal either way if you can play a good game. Or it shouldn't be.

Have you played Far Cry 2?

If not (or even if you have), you may want to view this video: Theme and Mechanics in Far Cry 2 and Far Cry 4 .

FC2 is a good game.

I've had FC2 here on Gog, but got it removed because it bored the fuck out of me.

I played some on my friend's 360. If you take away the protagonist crying and whining, it's a good game.
