Hi everyone,

I have a small YouTube channel dedicated to retrogaming and with the launch of Blade Runner 2049, I thought now would be a good time to show off Westwood Studios' Blade Runner for the PC. In my opinion, this is a highly underrated game that had the potential to revolutionize the Adventure Game genre if only it had gained more traction.

Anyway, here 's the video:

What was the problem that was stopping it being installed? Maybe subtitles of the error message would help be more informative.
I dunno, I think one can call the '85 game official(ly based on the soundtrack to the movie because licenses are expensive).

Edit: More to the point, I have this game but I've never played it, the computer that I think could have run it didn't have sound for whatever reason and then there was some sort of mishap and the CD drive broke. I think there's a side branch of ResidualVM working on getting it running, but it's been a while since I checked on it.

I wonder why it did not have more success. I remember the nice reviews.

Thanks for the vid.

I checked it out. The problem was 64bit windows, it needs to run on 32bit, apart from that the game worked ok.

Oh wow sorry I forgot to answer this. Yeah, the issue is that it needs to run in a 32-bit OS. But like I said, there's a patch that fixes that issue. The link is the description too :)

Well, it really depends on how you view it. I guess calling the 1997 game the only Blade Runner videogame does come with a few caveats :P

From what I understand, the game sold reasonably well (1 million units) but the proceeds were split between too many parties (EA, Westwood and whoever owns Blade Runner) so it wasn't as proffitable as one would think.

That would explain why there was no follow-up. However, not many people remember it or talk about it.

Very true, which is unfortunate. I really do love Westwood's Blade Runner game. :\
